Article Directories..

Over the past 6 months I've been deluted with information over load in regards to article marketing through Ezine. I've published Articles to ezine, all with anchor backlinks, and have had every single one approved. As to the relevancy to help rank the pages I was targetting, I never really saw the benefit.

I know there is potential click through traffic on ezine articles, but the other day I was mulling over some ideas to see what I could do to promote one of my sites when a spark of insanity landed. lol.

When I checked the landing page of ezine today, it was ranked at PR 6.

A new article published to an Article Directory is going to basically start off at PR -, and the sky is the limit depending on if you promote that page or not.

I've read that some juice does flow down to the internal pages of a web site, provided they're not blocked by the no follow tag.

So I'm guessing that is the original theory behind using an Article Directory like Ezine, they have a relatively high PR so you look at possibly tapping part of that power to carry more juice in a backlink pointing to your landing pages.

So let's carry that theory forward. A popular blog site is Blogger.com and as of today has a PR 8. Wordpress.com PR 9, etc.

You create your pages on these sites, with backlinks.

1. You don't have to jump through hoops to get articles approved

2. You are the moderator, and can edit / change them anytime you want

3. You don't have to worry about paying for memberships

After all, the goal is for backlinking. Plus, you can post additional articles on each of these blogging sites and potentially increase the ranking of the blog site faster than a single article.

I'm just curious why so much hype is thrust at ezine, other than people say "Google" loves them. Your article posted at ezine, or your article posted at a higher ranking blogging site, is still going to start off at PR - and work it's way from there.

If you want to spend the money, I guess you could end up with your articles on ezine hitting the front page.

I've heard some Web site owners actually scrape articles and content from ezine, only to republish them on their own site(s). A web master doing this is suppose to leave the commentary box in tact, but I would wager most of them strip it out after they scrape the article. I've actually found an article I published to ezine scraped that had about 10% rewritten. The resource box was completely truncated.

So you may end up with a potential extra backlink if a web master honors the terms of usage, but very unlikely. So why do people go through all the headache and hassle of ezine and other Article Directories that make you jump through hoops?

Not all article directories are the same and not all start off at PR- when you post your article. Anyways, as for EZA - I do not use them but they do have one thing going for them and that is traffic, although some of that traffic is inflated as we all know and I am not saying it is inflated by Chris either....

The difference between using blogger or wordpress as you pointed out is they do not have the traffic EZA does. People may or may not find your blog, but on EZA people have a better change of finding your article due to the inner linking and cross linking of pages.

Personally I see no use for EZA when I can do the same thing on my own site or blog and keep all my profits. Course that is just my opinion.
