5 Great Reason Why you Should Build A List

Hi Warriors,
I am not a guru or something like that. I know a lot of people here quit advanced, but there is still a lot of new warriors, who don't realise how powerful the list building is. So here the story and all the why's:

A month ago I was in Mark Anastasi List building Masterclass seminar and I was amazed by the concept of the "List Building". I remember back in 2009 June, then Mike Dillard launched his MLM TRAFFIC FORMULA and introduced to the same concept just with a different name of "You Inc" business model. What I am trying to say is, that many people are talking about that, but not that many people doing that or in fact many people are still struggling to build a list. Why? The answer is that people get distracted by the new "shine object" which promises a new revolutionary thing which is going to make you ton of money.

If you are not familiar with Internet Marketing and List building concepts and they do not make any sense I am going to explain these concepts quickly and the reasons why they should be your main focus.

List Building is also called "Email Marketing". So with Email Marketing you are creating a squeeze page (some people call it opt in page) that offer a potential subscribers with an option to join your list, in exchange for free information, it usually is e-book, special report, video or even free DVD. So why should you build a list?
  • The reason number one is: the email marketing is the most profitable business model on the internet. Probably you heard this concept from a lot of gurus that "the money is in the list". Well, not exactly, the money is in relationship with that list. If you are thinking what you can buy leads (list of people) and send them offers, you are WRONG. They not going to buy, because they don't know who you are, and even if they will the percentage of buyers will be very low.
  • When you have a list of subscribers you can get traffic anytime you want. If you have 15 000 people on you auto responder and if you send an email you can get 500 clicks in a few hours, probably even more than that. Of course, from 15000 subscribers your sales will significantly increase. This means that you are able to control all the traffic. You don't have to spend a dime for advertising. You don't have to know SEO or any kind of stuff. It is your private distribution channel.
  • Leave it and forget it. This means that you can setup emails in your auto responder for a 12 months in advance. For instance, you are on vocation and someone opt in to your squeeze page and the subscriber automatically gets a welcome message, couple days later you can offer something to buy and as I said before you can setup in advance as many emails with the offers inside as you like and this goes automatically.
  • So if you can get traffic anytime you want, this means that you can get money any time you want. Having a list allows you to send a promotional offer and generate almost instant cash. Let's say you in network marketing business and you have a list of subscribers in weight loss niche if you send them into the webinar or teleseminar you will get a lot of distributors joining to yours team. This is how some people build massive downline in a few weeks. Well, as I said before it depends on how good your relationship is between you and your subscribers.
  • List building is a great way to build trust and credibility with your customers or potential customers. How do you do that? Simple, just provide as much valuable information as you can.
When I talk to people and explain the concept of list building, they get confused and they are thinking that this is spamming. This is absolutely not true. Spamming is when somebody sends you an unwanted or junk email. Now let's look for a second from the consumer's perspective. If you are acustomer of ebay.com or amazon.com and they sent an email to you with the best deals and you go there and buy what they offer and you are happy about it. So the consumer got what he wanted and the business owner sold the product. In other words, both sides are happy. Of course, if the customers (subscribers) are not happy receiving those kinds of emails, they can always unsubscribe from their list.

In fact, list building is a number one skill in Internet Marketing, so if you don't have one, go and build one.

My first language is not English, so sorry for sentence which don't make sense.

Marius, thank you for this quick reminder that list building is a worthy endeavor. Many beginners will find this a useful primer.

As you reach out to new list builders, I urge you to think not only about "why" people should start a list, but the "how." It is easy to get discouraged when the instruction is "go and build one."

Thanks - I nearly went to that event but we were having the London Lunch on the same day so I was there, but I did speak to some people who were going to that event.

The one thing that you left out is:

That list must be targeted and must be buyers.

I know MANY people that have struggled really hard to build a list but then not been able to make money from it.

The things you've said are correct but they rely on:

1 - The list being well targeted

    and

2 - Those people being buyers not freebie hunters.

Many people get told to give something away for free in order to build that list - but they often just end up with a nice list of useless emails that either are throwaway email addresses that people used just to get the freebie or the person is not interested in buying - they want free stuff.

So, while I agree that the usual benefits of email marketing are valid - it's not as simple as build a list and you will make money.

What about sites like this which are ranked by Google on its first page for as much as 11 important key words. Is it the content or the SEO strategy that is working for them? Infact I am modeling my site on this site.

      Thanks for comment Andy.
I was spoken with James Watson in that event he is business with Daniel Wagner and he said the same things. He said the quickest way to get started is to interview the expert and sell that recording for very cheap price point. Main pupose on that to build a buyers list.

  • It indeed may sound like a cliche but 'Money is on the list.' And the same is true up to this moment. If you want to build a rock-solid online business, you need to build a list. Your list of subscribers will be the lifeblood so to speak of you business.
