I Need To Open An Offshore Account

Hi warriors,
I desperately need to open an offshore account in any part of the world - provided the country is on paypal and clickbank's list.

My business is getting to a stage where it is now inevitable for me to have an offshore account but can't seem to find any one who will accept me ( due to the Nigeria factor ).

Any suggestions?

Well, you always hear about those Swiss bank accounts and how your money is better protected there. I'm not sure how regulations for you would factor in though.

If I'm not mistaken ING is a European bank, headquarters in Holland. I'm sure they're linked with PayPal too. Might want to check them out, plus they have the highest interest rate for savings accounts I've ever seen, something like 3% Check them out.

Yommy, are there any countries that do massive trade with Nigeria, or are partnered with Nigeria somehow? Is there a specific country that attracts Nigerian immigrants? I don't know the answer to your dilemma but I think if you can find a country that already does significant financial business with Nigeria, or provides services to Nigerian ex-pats it might be a place to start.

Failing that, you may have to go 'on vacation' to a place where you can open a bank account while you are there. For example, a lot of Canadians have US bank accounts because they vacation there so much. Most places will require you to have a local address but there are probably ways to do it.

    Good luck.

I think about 8 years ago I had to go through a verification procedure at PayPal. They froze my money and wouldn't unlock it until I showed several documents that proved my address and so on. I can't remember the details, but they ask for things like driver's license, maybe utility bills that prove your residence, etc.

Point is, just opening an offshore acct isn't going to make it alright for you to use PayPal's services. It says in their TOS that you can't live in the restricted countries. And if anything, someone living in Nigeria who attempts to circumvent those policies/TOS is going to have an extremely hard time getting your money back if (when) they freeze your account and ask you to do the verification stuff.

    cheers,
    Becky

ETA: I'm sure you're aware of all this and/or you've read PP's TOS. But this is important stuff, so I figured it was worth mentioning (esp to anyone else who might be considering doing the same thing).

I would also advise caution. Also to bear in mind that even if you funnel money into an offshore account, you are still liable to pay tax according to the laws of your country, and that Paypal shares this financial information with regulatory bodies

How do you accept payments for your web flipping business?

PayPal will still need to see some form of identification to prove you are who you say and live where you say you live. A bank statement is one, but they also require a utility bill from the address you live with.

Having more than 1 paypal account breaks their TOS.

Yes you are .. As long as you "REALLY" live where you claim you do.. If someone gets caught for doing something illegal, such as saying they live in one place that they don't. Then everybody's account will be effected. All payments sent to and from will have accounts and funds frozen.

My personal opinion, stop trying to game the system .. If you can not use paypal then use other methods of payments or move to a country they do accept...

Yommy, I know you will do your due diligence, but please don't rush into anything. Make sure you check ALL t.o.s before you do anything.

Paypal will make you jump through hoops of fire if you do something they don't like.

European countries rarely accept Americans anymore, no more "Swiss Bank Accounts." I'd recommend picking up the book "Emergency" By Neil Strauss. Look in the Caymans as your best bet.

Honestly I can not believe this thread has even made it this long... I was under the impression we was not allowed to post anything that is illegal. Fact is creating a fake address out of a country where you do not live to use paypal is illegal and while I am not a lawyer I am sure paypal could cause a great deal of trouble for innocent people that did business with someone that is breaking the law..
