Some of the biggest IM myths that are wasting huge amount of your time! Is it true?!

I've been reading different things on this forum regarding a few issues. Basically some people say one thing the rest says it's a total waste of time.
So, experienced warriors, may I know your feedbacks regarding these issues:

nofollow and dofollow
Some says it is does not make a difference, that even if you comment on a nofollow blog, you will still be credited and it will help in your ranking.

duplicate content/ spinning article
Some experienced warrior swear by avoiding duplicate content, but some say it does not matter. Some say as long as it's your original article, you can submit the same article without modifying it to as many website as you can and Google will not penalize you and you will still benefit from the links?

So which is which? Can someone with actual experience shed some light on this for a newbie?

    Isaac, here's my take...

    Dofollow vs. Nofollow

If the only reason you are dropping comments on blogs is for backlinks, you might as well concentrate on dofollow links. That juice is the only benefit you are likely to get, so you might as well be efficient about it.

On the other hand, if you are commenting on blogs to add value to the post and to gain traffic from real people clicking through because they like what you said and want more, ignore dofollow vs. nofollow.

    Duplicate Content

I don't believe in a duplicate content penalty. While it is true that if you submit the same article to 50 places, only one of them is likely to rank in a given search, it's hard to predict which one it will be for a given individual search. Most purveyors of the duplicate content penalty idea have a commercial interest in proving its existence. In other words, they sell article spinners, rewriting services, and such.

Again, there is a flip side to the coin. If you are going to submit the same content to multiple places for linking purposes, the links themselves should vary. If you look at purely organic linking (linking initiated by others for the sole purpose of sharing content), you'll see a mixture of links. Some will be keywords used as anchor text. Some will be the page URL. Some will be a variant of 'click here'. If all of your links use the same keyword as anchor text, that isn't natural, and you may find those links discounted. You won't be penalized, but you may not benefit much, either.

      Yes.

Along with... article marketing, keyword research, how to find a niche, how to set up a blog, Adsense, product creation, which auto responder is the best, how to make money fast, how to submit an article, how to write an article fast, where to find PLR, should I get my own domain, how to build a list, membership sites, Twitter, Web 2.0, Social sites, bookmarking, backlinks, SEO, Google, Blogger, YouTube, hosting, submitting sites, how to get traffic, affiliate marketing, outsourcing, PayPal, Clickbank, CPA, Amazon,...whew.

So yeah, you came to the right place to learn about it. Anything you can think of, and we talk about it here. Everyday. All of it. This is the place to be.

Dofollow means that you get credit for the link.

Duplicate Content means putting the same content on your site over and over again like "make money online, make money online, make money online..." or taking one really optimized block of content and repeating it on your site over and over again without changing it in an attempt to fool Google and manipulate your rankings.

If you try to put the same keywords on your site repeating them over and over in an attempt to manipulate your ranking, you will probably get bad results from Google. At least they say you will.

To submit your article to all 3000 article directories is fine. That is called "Syndication". No problem. To have your same blog post in archives is no problem.

To set up "link farms", "link wheels", "scrape content"...might have a problem. You should read the Google TOS on that.

Submit an article to every article directory you can find, no problem. Again, that is Syndication. If you want an original article, you can rewrite it, spin it, have it spun...no problem. That is called "rewriting" or "spinning" an article. Again no problem. Of course, if you want to take the same exact article and submit it to all directories you can find then there is no problem.

That is called "syndication". No problem.
