What are you looking for in an article directory?

My advice is that there is hundreds of top article directories so you can make yours like theres or get creative and add in functionality that will keep people on the site longer. To give you a some what non related example, look at facebook. They have so much interaction that is why people stay logged in so long. I think I read somewhere it is an average of like 10-13 minutes people spend on facebook. So that proves that they do a good job of keeping you on the site. So I am not saying create games to do the same but create fun methods of communication within your community that will provoke people to want to be a part of it. And build a big idea not just another article directory based off the free article dashboard script. Just my 2 cents

What I'd like to see in order
1, great articles that have been scanned for good English and original content
2, space for publishers to choose niches that approved articles of more than 450 words will be posted directly to the publisher's blog or, failing that, mailing direct links to the articles for publishers in those niches they have chosen.
3, Adding a section for publicity releases that publishers can reproduce whole, or alter to their own needs.

I look for good quality articles, quick approval time, PageRank of at least 3 and topics that fit my niches.

a lot of the growing article directories these days are the ones that do google adsense revenue splits. Giving back to the writers via methods like this make it easier for writers to make the jump. Also an affiliate promotion system for your directories. If you make one with these features, please email me - earl(at)ipoint.ca

I personally look for PR, Alexa ranking, good quality content already on these article sites. And i also look for a visitor counter to make sure people are ACTIVE in the site
