There was a plug in which spun content everytime the page was loaded. I never owned it and only heard about it second hand. It was called WPSpinner and, apparently the coder behind it got sick of having to remake it every 5 minutes when WP upgraded to a new version so decided to pull it.

Anyway it is no longer available. In conducting my research into this, however, I met a guy on another forum who is in the process of making a similar plug in & he has promised to e-mail me when its ready, So I will report back...

I use a plug-in called WP-Unique. I found it on a WSO here on warrior forum. I have over 100 wp blogs that I use as link farms, all of them using scraped content - I bought this plugin to try and boost the pagerank of those sites a bit.

I haven't had much of a chance to test it out yet. But the couple of blogs that I have used it on seem to have increased their traffic starting about a week after installing the plugin.

Yeah ... I have this too. Got some sites using it. Steve Fullman is the owner of that WSO

Actally, WPUnique could be the one that I was on about rather than WPSpinner as I called it.

I believe it does but if your making syndicated content "unique" that can lead to trouble...not to mention its not very ethical.

It's only unique to a computer. It's still the exact same article in terms of content, just a slightly different internal representation in the database and on the wire. There are no clear ethical or legal implications to the way it works.

Because quality content is much more important to a human being than unique content, but unique content is much more important to a computer than quality content.

There is only so much high-quality content out there, and the higher the quality, the less there is. So when you're using very high-quality content, you are almost never the only one using it, and you have to do something to make it look unique to the search engines if you want to rank highly in the SERPs.

That said, most people are using WPUnique because of the "duplicate content penalty" myth, and their content is such absolute garbage it doesn't matter.

WPUnique is like spray foam insulation. It's a great product with great uses, but the overwhelming majority of customers - as any hardware store owner can tell you - are children with no real purpose. They just want to play with it and see what happens.

I guess I'm missing something? If I write quality, unique content and place it on my site, I wouldn't have a need for a plug-in like this, right?

Right. This plugin is for people who are republishing content they have gotten elsewhere. If you write all your own content, you don't need it.

In fact, most of the people republishing content don't need it, either... but they think they do, and Steven has done a great job of producing something that does exactly the right thing to make them happy.

It perfectly solves the problem that would exist if they were not delusional and there actually was a Great International Duplicate Content Conspiracy.

          I stand corrected....

I could have sworn I saw a thread not long ago about this plugin that said it changed the wording of the content, took out the links...etc etc. I guess I have it mistaken with another plugin.

Why is it that ever time I hear the words "scrape" and "content" used in the same sentence I feel my hair standing on end?

My first inclination would be to use the unique article wizard plugin for wordpress. I don't know if that would be right for your purposes, but this is indeed spun content. Would you be supplying your own spun content?

WP Unique is great. Now i don't have to write the articles myself. I just copy/paste some PLR content and i'm ready to go.

Have you used it personally? I'll like your honest review.

The plugin below seems to fit the bill of the OP.

    Plugin Name: DUPLICATE BYE BYE
Description: Changes posts to look the same but appear unique to search engines.
    Author: DIRK WAGNER
Plugin URI: Duplicate Bye Bye Wordpress Plugin

I can't vouch for its effectiveness though..
