WSO's - Bizarre trend.

Any other WSO publishers who might be reading this, I'd be realllllly interested to know if you experience this. Have you found that even though NEW traffic is going through your WSO thread, conversions die off after the WSO "ages" (even after a couple of days in some instances)?

It seems after the first few days after the thread collects views and responses the response/conversions dies down too. This isn't always the case for me by any means, I've had some insanely successful WSO's where this did NOT happen.

However generally speaking the first 1-3 days sales explode and it sells out, and then even if the thread is bumped a week later, two weeks later, etc. the response is usually far less than the first few days it launched.

This both makes sense to me and makes NO sense to me. It makes sense because sure, of course, the WSO is old and it's NOT new (so it's less exciting, people have seen it, etc.) On the flip side, it makes NO sense since this forum is insanely huge and tons of people are going through the WSO forum and there is always fresh traffic--so are people just largely only making purchases on NEW WSO threads?

Anyone else experience this or have any thoughts about it?

Just a theory, but a lot of would-be marketers are interested in the "latest and greatest" methods, regardless of whether or not they are actually effective. It stands to reason the people with that particular mindset would shun anything older than a week.

I don't have much on-hand experience with this yet, but: I once read that some people may recognize the title of your bumped WSO and shrug it off, even if they never bought your product or did much more than glance at it. Have you experimented with changing the titles?

Andrew there are a number of factors that you have to take into
    consideration.

This list is by no means exhaustive.

    1. You're assuming that there is a ton of traffic going through the WSO
forum, but the truth is, only Allen knows how many views a day page 1
gets. Beyond page 1, I am sure the views go down, if only a little. And then
again, that's a guess as nobody knows.

    2. There are a lot of WSOs. Not everybody who goes through the WSO
forum is going to be interested in a particular offer. And with so much to
choose from, the competition is fierce.

    3. After the initial people see your WSO and buy, they're not going to
buy again, even if they go through the forum again as I am sure many do.
I know that because I've had people buy 10 of my WSOs or more. There
are many multiple buyers, but once one WSO is bought, they don't buy
    again.

This leads to where I was going with 1 above. A lot of the continuing
traffic could be people who have already bought your WSO.

    4. Many people are just tire kickers. They like to see what's available but
they're not buyers. My best WSO sold about 1,000 units, but that was
over a long period of time. 25% of those buyers were in the first 4 days.

The other 75% took over a year.

Truth is, the number of active participants in this forum is probably a lot
lower than you think. But again, only Allen knows the answer to that.

But think about it logically. Look at main discussion and see how many
    people post regularly.

Do you think it's anywhere near 1,000?

I'd be surprised if it was even though the membership is what?

    Around 179,000?

In other words, what you're telling me doesn't surprise me in the least.

Is the above all speculation other than the member count? Yeah, it is.

But I'm fairly sure that I'm not far off from the truth.

At least that's my 2 cents on the subject.

    Andrew,

To answer your question - yes. Just remember though, conversions are dependant on how appealing your copy and product is to buyers.

But this is not something new. It's been going on for a couple of years now.

@Steve, yeah I agree really and this is kind of what I was thinking more or less. I guess I'm just trying to see what others think to sort of validate my thoughts on it, it defies logic for me a bit

To be honest though, I no longer rely on the WSO forum in the traditional
      sense.

In other words, I send an email to my list about the WSO and, if truth be
told, I'd say on any given WSO, 50% of my sales come from my list.

This is why I tell people if you're going to be in the MMO niche, you have to
build a list and treat them like gold.

      1. Give them free content that they can actually use.

      2. Make them offers that are impossible to pass up with quality products.

      3. Offer quality customer support and reply to their emails in a timely
      manner.

If more people did this, WSO or not, they'd see income that they'd only
      imagined.

@Steve, good tips, I do the same with the list and I've built a list of WSO buyers too which helps get the word out. After you start building a list it can sort of sustain and support itself and just snow ball from there.

Yep. Developing a good reputation is important. Your buyers will trust you and will be happy to buy from you again. Although as Steve said, you have to treat them like gold AND make sure you create quality material.

I've only ran one WSO but I had the opposite experience. Most of my sales have come after the thread was buried by new offers. Might have something to do with what kind of offers were on the front page when I posted.

I haven't bumped an info product thread here in months now. I still make regular sales. The key = offering real value in the regular parts of the forum. Don't just chime in with agreement or rants. I do both, don't get me wrong. You gotta keep it real, of course. But the game-changer here is becoming someone people really want to hear from because you help them without asking for anything in return. Then just make sure your sig has your WSO's in it. Whichever "guru" first said that you gotta give to get hit it out of the park. Absolutely true.

      John,
Well said and I really do believe that in order to truly have a successful WSO it becomes a combination of the following:

1 - The listing of the WSO

2 - Notifying your subscriber list about the WSO (as Steven mentioned)

3 - Providing quality content as warranted within the framework of the forum (as you mention)

Taking the time and making the committment to answer questions posted by others in the forum with an answer that provides quality feedback/content has become synonymous with multiple WSO sales (at least for me).

In fact, the smart marketers most likely already know this and provide the quality postings that "hit it out of the park" in order to sale more of their WSOs.

I think this is a win, win for everyone - The forum gets filled with valuable content for the readers and the poster of that content gets their signature (WSO) seen.

Long gone are the days when merely posting a WSO guaranteed a nice return on investment. With so many WSO's being posted and honest reviews being provided for those same WSOs, the importance on providing value and quality within the forum has never been higher.

      Respectfully,
      Tim

Timing plays a massive role... on the occasional full moon, and other random happenings everyone gets the urge to bump at once, and your showing time drops like a lead banana.

Try to bump enough that you can get an average, and you'll be able to work out #bumps you can get away with to still make that cheddar. Bonus points if you keep track of the time and day each time you bump and the subsequent results to compare data with your other offers later on.

          Did you change the price?

I think the price increasing strategy is working great in the early days of the WSO, but after reaching the highest price tag, conversions will drop eventually
