Email Copywriting and Autoresponder Sequences

Assuming I have 3 emails in my sequence, all of them intends to ask the reader to buy something.

So what if this reader bought the product at Mail 2? When he receives Mail 3, wouldn't he feel strange?

Once he or she has bought, then they are more valuable than your subscribers who have not yet bought, so move them to your 'customer list'.

Could always put a larger gap between the offer based emails - like weeks, or a month to hopefully avoid this.

I don't like doing this though and prefer to offer big discounts as actual one offs seasonally - i.e. a real time campaign over thanksgiving for a weekend sale

If you use Aweber, simply add an automation rule. You have the regular opt-in list, and when they buy, have them opt into the buyer list. Aweber automatically removes them from the regular list. Works great.

How do I know (or how does AWeber) know which subscriber bought the product?

If you're using Aweber then do this...

Set up two lists. One called "yourproductprospects". One called "yourproductcustomers". Or something like that.

When someone purchases your product, encourage them to opt-in to your customers list.

In your Aweber control panel select your prospects list and then click "List Settings" and then "Automation".

Set up a new rule like this:

"Unsubscribe from list yourproductprospects when lead subscribes to yourproductcustomers"

This will be slightly different dpending what auto-responder you are using - but it should be something like this.

Instead of using the words 'prospect' and 'customer' i would suggest you use 'one' and 'two' or something similar and keep a note of which is which, simply because the people you send the email out to can see what the list is called and if i was told i was on a 'prospect' list to be sold to the i really wouldn't be too interested in continuing to be on it!
