Do Specific Blog Posts Count As "Inner Pages"?

Is it possible to rank a specific blog post? Rather than having to create more "pages" for my site (cluttering up my navigation menu etc.) I was wondering if I could build links to a specific keyword optimized post on the blog section of my landing site. The reason I ask is because the content is already posted on the main blog page, but I would be trying to rank the page that just has that individual post. Thanks!

    Yes, it is very much possible. In fact, if you can do it properly, you can also expect a double listing. But having said that, please bear in mind that competition for the keyword is also going to be a key factor, as always.
