A few words of WSO purchasing wisdom

Do any of you get as hypnotized by all the bright shiny WSO offers as I do? Does your heart start to pound when you see that there are only 2 left at the "for the first 100" price? Do you worry that this information/service may never be available again, or if it is, it'll cost you big bucks?

In a very few cases, it might truly be a once in a lifetime opportunity, but for the most part, there will be an even brighter shinier object just around the bend, with another, possibly lower, introductory price.

To all of you WSO creators, this isn't to say that each of you is not *totally* unique and special or that your products aren't super fabulous. It's just a bit of a caution for newbies and sorta newbies who aren't bringing in much dough yet and need to slow down the buying.

- Think hard about where this WSO fits in your marketing/business plan (you DO have one, right?).

- Are you ready to implement the info in the product, or will it sit waiting til you've plowed through all the rest of the stuff you've bought?

- Does using the product require more technical skills than you currently have?

Just a few things to consider. One suggestion. Make a spreadsheet of all the WSO's and other IM material you've purchased: Date, Title, Purpose, Cost, Notes, etc. And before you buy yet another WSO, take a look at what you already have and see where this new one fits, or if it duplicates some of your existing products.

Again, I'm not saying there aren't a ton of incredibly valuable WSO's. There are, and I've bought a ton. BUT several of them are still sitting idly on my hard drive because I haven't implemented the ones I previously purchased. I get caught up in thinking I NEED this one piece of the puzzle.

But really, that one more piece won't do me any good until I take action on the pieces I already own.

I'm writing this as much for me as for you; I just made that spreadsheet a couple of days ago. This morning I attended another webinar. Those free webinars are usually full of great info, and then there's the inevitable fantastic offer at the end. And if the presenter's any good at all, you're left feeling that you can't possibly live another day without the product. That's how I felt this morning, and I'm trying to follow my own advice.

Just sayin'...

Thats a great piece of advice that you have given here Jan which every warrior, no matter their level of marketing expertise should follow..

It should serve as a timely reminder of recent unactioned products . . . I have been so guilty of this in the past, I probaly have one or two collect dust too.

    Many thanks

      Good advice Jan

I remember buying so many WSO's that were way beyond where I was at in the early days. What was I thinking of???

Everything seems so shiny and new in the WSO section.

It might be if it is what you need right now

Excellent post Jan. It is hard to resist all of those bright shiny products in the WSO Forum. The only way I have found to resist them is to not go in that forum. But that is very hard to do, and some days I just go in there to see what is available. And then you can't help to be attracted by those enticing signatures. I sure don't need any more. If I implemented a quater of what I have bought, I would be rich. O well.

All kidding aside, this is particularly great advice. If I might add, make sure you have a column where you can checkbox if the WSO has any re-occuring fees and MAKE SURE to include a detailed note on how to cancel that re-occuring charge.

    Great post!

Great point! What I did is set-up a separate worksheet for subscriptions and memberships, with the login info, how to cancel, contact info, etc. I'll post my spreadsheet as soon as I get it the way I want it.

I have only purchased a few WSO's and none of them have anything to do with "make money" "this is the secret" "but my product/ebook/software" ...

The ones I have purchased are from people I know and have talked to.. Shiny stuff bores me to death and I am 100% deflective of hype..

Good advice Jan, many should follow ....

    Great points you made there!

Totally agree and have been a victim of not thinking twice before clicking the buy button. It would be even worse if it didn't go to the paypal buy page before i actually paid for it otherwise i would be click buy happy.

Unfortunately I don't see the WSO section as that good any more because of so much of it being crap, but I've spent many thousands of dollars there over the years.

These days I tend to buy tools and services rather than info products - mainly because I only buy what I already needed (I don't impulse buy in that forum) and I tend to buy from people I trust (most of them don't qualify).

I remember how I used to be, so I can understand if new members are like that now despite the amount of crap they have to sift through there are lots of good offers there.

Jan, I think there should be a support group for WSO Addicts. Coupled with a 12 Step program.
    1. We admitted we were powerless over WSOs - that our lives had become unmanageable.
    2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
    ...ecetera

Cool, but where do I sign up if there's no WSO?
