What is the going rate for a 50-60 page ebook creation?

What is the going rate to produce a
50-60 page ebook?

If you mean to have one written, for me, that would run you about 2K.

If you're talking about somebody just taking what you wrote and putting
it together for you, I don't know. But if you can write it, there's no reason
you shouldn't be able to put it together on your own.

Depending if you have a solid outline, I would suspect around $750-1000. I've seen them go for a smaller amount on GetaFreelancer.com but you also need to be concerned about the quality of the eBook.

I also agree with Steven that there's really no reason why you can't write it yourself. If it seems overwhelming, just break the job down into "articles" that come together as an eBook.

The deal is...I am working with a reputable IMer on some other things and he is kicking around the idea of an ebook. He is swamped with everything else (very successful) and he asked if I would be interested in writing a ebook and what I would charge........

I have no idea what the going rate is and I want to be fair.

I am in the process of putting together the outline now.

You should just treat it like anything else, how much do you value your work at? then multiply this number by how many hours you think it will take you.

I do this for everything I do, if the price I pay myself is higher than what I could purchase it for (and have the same quality) I will outsource it and concentrate my time on something else.

Well, if he asks me, it's 10 cents a word, which for 50 to 60 pages, assuming
350 words per page, is about 2K, if my math is correct.

Everybody is going to have their own fees. As for the going rate, there is
none. Some folks, you couldn't afford. I've written enough ebooks in the
last few years that 10 cents a word would be my minimum.

Bottom line: Charge him what you feel your time is worth based on your
skill level in comparison to what else is out there and what they're charging.

Really depends on how much research and work is involved. I've paid anywhere from $5 to $20 per page, depending on the subject matter and the level of expertise the author had.

But there's also a supply and demand issue. I once had a dog trainer, who was well-published and very busy, ask for $5k for a 100 page e-book! And I understood where he was coming from. If someone wanted me to write them a pickup/ seduction / dating ebook I would charge $25 a page minimum because it would kick some serious a$$ and would be 100% original, high quality content written by an expert in the field.

For me, I charge depending on the project - amount of research needed, how many words, whether or not screen shots and graphics are to be included, if I need to find the screen shots and graphics. Let's just say all I need to do is a small amount of formatting (only in word), no screen shots, minimal research because I am familiar with the subject, and I don't need an outline - for that page count - $500 words or so and it would go up from there.
