Default The Subject Line is killing me, HELP!!

My autoresponder sends out the Confirmation Request with this subject line:

Your Subscription Request - Confirmation Required

Problem is that I tested this with 10 different email addresses and 9 went straight to the Spam Folder. Tech Support tells me there is NO way to change the subject line of a confirmation request.

Obviously, I hate to lose signups because my email went into a Spam Folder but I can't change the subject line.

Two questions:

1) When an opt-in is submitted I can return the person to ANY web page I want. Should this page have lengthy instructions as to how to receive my email by whitelisting me? The confirmation will probably beat any changes the receiver MIGHT make to accept my email so this could be a moot point.

2) I will have the email address of the "Unconfirmed Prospect" so should I send him/her an email after a few days suggesting they check the Spam Folder to confirm their request? Is that tacky?

BTW, if you use an autoresponder what are your thoughts as to what percentage goes in the Spam Folder and what is an acceptable number for unconfirmed?

Thanks for the help,

Tom

Hi Tom

Most major autoresponders allow sending the subscriber to any page.

I would design a page telling the subscriber what he/she should do to confirm their subscription and include a line that tells them to check their spam folder. You could use mine as a basis for what you need - its not perfect BTW!

I wouldn't get too hung up about chasing non confirmations - they will always happen espeially in the IM field.

I have found that single optin workls better outside the IM niche.

Hope this helps?

Kevin

Thanks Kevin,

I noticed you use SuperSponders! How do you rate them, Good and Bad?

Thanks for the help,

Tom
