I'm a new iPhone owner and looking for useful apps. So what are your best app recommendations?

Here is a good list (and comparison)
29 Twitter Apps for the iPhone Compared

(I have twitterific - it's not bad. Of course, it doesn't mean it is the best: just found it when started with my iPhone and didn't bother looking for other apps...)

Thanks! I downloaded Twitteriffic. So far, I like it, but I'm still trying to figure out what the different icons mean and how to navigate it.

If you like checking your bank account, go to the login page and save it to the desktop interface on the iphone as most banks have an iphone support feature inbuilt in their websites

Recently got an iPhone as well

    My most used apps:

    1. Fring - Great free IM that lets you login to MSN, Google Chat, Skype, Twitter and more
    2. TweetDeck - Can easily check Twitter and Facebook updates
    3. TzukiSnap - Fun photo taking app
    4. WordPress - Lets you manage your WP blogs easily from your iphone
    5. TuneWiki - If you like to find lyrics, this app finds the lyrics for the current song you're playing and presents it line by line as the song is being played
    6. Cinema apps - depending on where you are, I believe each country have their own cinema apps that lets you check for movies showing locally, summary, reviews and trailers on youtube.
    7. XE.com - Gives you the latest currency exchange rates, a must have for non-US IM'ers imo, but might not be that useful in your case

I'm trying to look for a good VNC app that lets me access my PC remotely. Currently using Mocha VNC but it's very limited in functionality.

      Thanks everyone.

      NK,

Your reply is the most helpful I've gotten so far. Thanks!!!

I'm still exploring my iPhone and I'm finding the hunt for various useful apps kind of fun.

I mentioned in another thread a site/app which was mentioned in either Entrepreneur or Fast Company magazine: Foursquare.com.

Foursquare.com bills itself as "a cross between a friend finder, a social city-guide and a game that rewards you for doing interesting things." It lets you find friends who are physically near you using your phone's GPS capabilities and or your FourSquare friends' reports of where they are when they check in.

      Hmmmm....

I found it when I was browsing stuff looking for useful apps for my new iPhone and I downloaded the app. I just logged onto the full site today and created a profile. The majority of my Facebook friends and Twitter followers are long-distance (old college classmates and extended family members), so I wouldn't be connected to any of them via Foursquare.com.

I'm pursuing my offline business and thought this might be an interesting social networking tool for local business.

Try LogMeIn.com. I use their PC version, but they also have an iphone application now. I think you might enjoy it. Have fun!

On topic: I'd also have to say TweetDeck is a great choice.

And, for those that have an account, Skype mobile is great as well. If you have a subscription, you can make phone calls on Skype through your mobile and not burn up your actual plan minutes. I've never taken advantage of that part, but it may be a great feature for others.

Coffee in the mornings is a must! Work sometimes demand that I tweet, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. I Hunt and Shoot Aliens as therapy a few hours every day. I am experimenting with healthy eating, and I enjoy LIFTING apart from tennis, which I have loved from goddess knows when. Apart from Coffee, I love cheeses and wine, as French do.

I also found and installed the WordPress app which allows me to make posts to my blog from my iPhone. I had to enable remote posting in my WP blog, but now I can post on the go. Way cool!

          Hi Michelle,
If you do any offline marketing, the Facetime2 app has some fine potential for getting clients. It's a chat program that has a GPS feature to show you the location of the person you're chatting with.
The developer is a friend of mine and we're doing some experimenting to come up with ways for marketers to monetize it.

If you are a serious user of Twitter then you should go with Tweetie 2. It is a paid application but is well worth the money.

Other apps I like are the Wordpress app, Skype, Yahoo Messenger and AroundMe. I also like Awesome Note.

I'm actually looking for an app that will post your notes/reminders on your lockscreen. The ones I've seen usually need you to either open the app to see them, or turn it into an image and use it as a wallpaper.

I prefer something dynamic where I can easily add and remove the notes/reminders.

Anyone know if such an app exist?
