Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge; Have You Used It?

I'm looking for a simple PLAN that will help me to make good money online. I like the 30 Day Challenge because it seems to be geared toward helping new marketers make their first $1 online and each step is divided into small daily bite sized lessons...Has anyone out there used the 30DC successfully and made money with it? Please comment if you've actually used it.

Absolutely do the 30 DC! It was my first introduction to the basics and I find myself going back to it (the 2009 edition) even now. It even showd my wife that this stuff isn't difficult if you take it a bit at a time. Though I've completed the challenge I generally do it all again as each year they have something new to learn.

No I have not used it

But I do recommend Casey Gentle's NEWBIES FAST CASH GUIDE @ Casey Gentles Internet Marketing Blog: Tips And Secrets On How To Make Money Online!

His guide is easily understood by newcomers as he place it in layman terms. Go ahead and give that a try too!

      I hated it.

There is some good information but it is buried in 60 minute long podcasts where he talks about his dogs and children, the weather etc etc.

Better to learn from the forum.

Some of the info was good, but I doubt the niche examples they used would be making any money. Also, they promote Wordpress Direct which I would never use or recommend.

30DC was THE THING for me back in 2005-2006 when I was struggeling. It was the 30DC and what they thought that helped me off the ground and into earning money!

It's awesome for beginners but they change their strategies each year though depending on what works best.

And Mr. Kemp: Why on earth wouldn't you use Wordpress Direct??

      Best Regards

30DC was the first even IM information for me. Then everything sounded like WOW! These guys are awesome!!

HOWEVER. I started to implement some things that they were teaching, those were my first steps online. And a few weeks later I noticed that I spend 50% of my day by reading their emails. Only later I understood that they were promoting a bunch of products and programs. So I unsubscribed, and life got so much easier

Anyways, for those who are just starting out, I would definitely recommend the 30DC.

        Hey there Martin,

        How are ya?

What I understand about Wordpress Direct is you put in a few keywords into the interface and it will go out and find content for you and automatically post it in your Wordpress site. Unless you actually post something original your blog will be littered with duplicate content - a splog. Google doesn't like this at all.

Quality goes out the window and users (newbies) think they are making great sites with lots of "cool" content. The reality is they are paying a company quite a bit to create and host poor quality sites - splogs- that Google is trying to get rid of.

I think the question should be "Why on earth would you pay to use Wordpress Direct?"

I love wordpress and believe in quality original content. Check out this post:

WordPress Direct, Have You Lost Your Mind??

However, if it works for you the that is great. I just wouldn't recommend it myself.

One product I do recommend from the 30 day challenge is Market Samurai.

A great research and SEO tool.

        Cheers,

        Nick

Uh....guys we're all marketers here. If you don't like being marketed to (and picking up gems as you are) then you're in the wrong business. And I'm not sure about the unrelated podcasts. In 2008 the videos were to the point as they were in 2009. And I personally didn't like Wordpress Direct but then WP is not all that hard to set up and configure. And if you get Wordpress Manager DX it becomes even easier. The only time I think Ed missed a step was in promoting Traffic Bug.

I did and didn't make any money from it ... but that was simply because I didn't get the traffic necessary. I know it changes each year but two years when I did it - I thought it was pretty good and worthwhile - if you stick to it and get sufficient traffic.

Love the TDC. I've done it for three years and wil do it again this year.
I always learn something new. Ed Dale and team are always way ahead on the cutting technologies for marketing on the Internet.

Yes, he does market stuff, but I expect that from an internet marketer. I don't
find the podcast overly long and I just love it when his daughter is in the background
    causing all sorts of mischief.

What bothers me are the mankinis...but I've gotten used to them

    I used it.

The problem I have with it is that it seems to be more of the same old internet marketing tactics that I'm not really interested in.

I feel like creating crappy blogs for the sole purposes of trying to rank high in the SEs for free traffic, and then direct that traffic to your ads with craptastic content is really spammy and unsustainable.

If you're interested in doing the exact same thing that all other internet marketers are already doing, then it's probably a great product. If you're not interested in spamming the internets with crappy blogs that don't really have any REAL unique content (content is rewritten from existing content) then I would not recommend the thirty day challenge.

If you just want to make money, it might work. I stopped when I saw that it was just more of the same.

The first year I did the 30DC, the goal was to make money without spending any money. Boy, has that ever changed over the years!

I absolutely recommend the 30DC to newbies because it's a much faster and better way of learning the basics than trying to comb through these forums or posting questions like "how do I upload files? how do I install Wordpress? where do I get a domain name?" Even if you only go through the pre-challenge training, you'll learn a lot of basic stuff you'll need to know.

I still do the 30DC just to see what new thing they've come up with. I don't follow step by step, but I usually try out any free trials they're running. I got the 30DC discount on Market Samurai and I have gotten that money back and then some. I agree that Traffic Bug seems to be the big dud, but IMO WPD is for beginners who are too stupid or too lazy to figure out how to run their own Wordpress. I absolutely detested WPD and don't feel it's worth the money unless you just can't handle going the technical aspects of your own sites. If they're offering something with a trial and I like it, I buy it. If they don't offer a free trial, I don't buy it. You can usually muddle through without it.

Never used it myself as I came into IM in a different capacity then most on this board.

That being said, I think it is entirely too easy for people in IM to take massive amounts of time crafting the perfect strategy and not taking action.

I wish I would have started writing 2 articles a day from day 1....I'd have close to 500 finished articles if I did, which would give me some great link juice for about 45 minutes a day.

All I can say about 30 Day Challenge is - it rocks !! it's free man .... you'll get to watch/download lots of video files, I think it won't be less than 100 Video files !! alongwith PDF transcriptions.

Even though he promotes some paid tools like Market Samurai (Keyword/Niche Research), HostGator (for webhosting) and others - it's upto you whether you'll give him the credits but everyone knows that Web Hosting and a Good Keyword research tool is very very important for real success in Internet Marketing.

At least, a totally Newbie will get enough information to take real action from the videos.

I'd say, 30 Day Challenge is a highly recommended courses for every Newbies and remember it's totally FREE ! worth at least $300.

    thanks.

100 videos? Sounds like a lot of work for a newbie. I really don't think a newbie should need to watch 100 videos to get started online. I haven't checked out the program though so not sure what those videos include. But don't sell the fact of 100 videos as a good thing because it will actually likely scare most newbies off. All that equates to is a lot of hard work.
