We're all marketers here.....so I am curious...what types of bonuses get you excited?

There are a couple of perspectives here...bonuses that are given to you if you purchase from a particular person and bonuses for top affiliates.

So....OTHER than Receiving Cash Back on a Purchase ...which is not always the best idea... what would you like?

If you just spent $2,000 on a new course...which would you like more... A Bonus of Free Digital products from the person you purchased or would you enjoy a new X-Box or IPod / Digital Camera, Amazon Gift Card etc...

Thanks....
Sean

I think it has to be something to supplement the product, ideally make it easier. That's what'd float my boat.

Cash back is ok too but I didn't think that was ok with all affiliate product owners/managers.

Xbox ... a) I wouldn't have time to implement what I'd bought : ) and b) if you can pay for a big ticket item like that I think you can pay for your own!

If I dropped coin like that on a course, I'd dig a one-on-one with the author, if that wasn't already included.

I fixed that for you Lisa.

      Sean,

Just a personal opinion, but I would not want anything physical that has a known retail price that I could find on sale if I took the time.

My mind would automatically discount the course by said retail value and wonder why I'm spending the extra money.

I would want something that has far greater intrinsic value that could be applied to further my goals, not become a time-suck.

Fwiw, I'm a sucker for seminar videos where I can watch marketers in action and see things being taught that are new to me.

Lisa, where I come from, they call that prostitution and it is illegal!

I was going to say that I wouldn't want bonuses that would clutter up my hard drive - never to look at them again but seeing as I bought a $2000 product I wouldn't mind an appointment for lunch in my city in my favorite rsetaurant where we can go over my stuff!
If you're making serious coin then surely you can go to a major city on holiday for a week and take time out of your day to have a free lunch with one of your customers every day for an hour or two. By appointment only of course.

If I ever put down that kind of cash for a course, I'd simply shop the bonus wars and pick whatever had the most utility for me. Maybe it's a digital product, maybe a video set of another expensive seminar (kind of like getting a two-fer). A gift card and cash are roughly equivalent to me in this case, and if one of those were the best offer for me, I'd take it. As for things like cameras or video games, I'd rather select the item for myself.

Sorry I can't give you a specific answer, but that is my real thought process...

I think this is an awesome idea. I had some fun writing up how that might work.

Special bonus for the first twenty buyers:
Fill my lunch calendar for June! I will fly to your city (in continental US or Canada) and we'll do lunch, Dutch treat. I'll bring my camera phone, voice recorder and notepad. We'll talk about whatever you like. If you want anything to be confidentially off the record, just say so.
Each evening I will update my blog with a picture of our lunch time and what I learned from you. This is a perfect chance to promote your own business to my audience, in your own voice if you like. In my post, I'll also include what was the best question you had about my program, and my answer.

Because there really is only one of me, and I really do need to be back home once a week, this really is limited to the first 20 buyers!

Because my itinerary will be based on the closest cities, you need to have some flexibility for which day we meet in June. If we can't coordinate our schedules, I reserve the right to award your lunch to the next buyer but you will still be my guest for dinner any time in the next year that we're both in Vegas. Fair enough?

Get your order in right away to join me for lunch!

      Love,
      The Big Famous Guru

So what would you suggest for your overseas customers who couldn't get easily get to a lunch event? Fly 'em out for the afternoon?

90 minute webcam session should do the trick, unless the marketer is in a major European or Asian city once a year or so and the buyer is willing to wait to meet in person.

Gosh Kevin, I hope it didn't hurt! I don't know what splorfed means, but you folks from the UK do have some colorful, fun sounding words. It makes me think you spit out your coffee or something.

Usually the coffee (or other drink) is emitted from the nostrils immediately after taking a drink and simultaneosuly reading something humerous. The 'splorf' usually affects one's monitor and or keyboard . . .

BTW - I heard it first from someone your side of the pond and I presumed it to be an Americanism

            Kevin, splorfing is serious business!

I was sitting in my recliner chair about a year ago with my coffee and laptop. Read something funny online and the coffee did just as you explained. Bad part is that it went all over the keyboard on my MacBook . Lights out!

Had to drive 70 miles to the nearest MacStore and have a new skin put on my keyboard. The guy asked me if I spilled coffee on it (it was obvious), and I replied, coffee with one cream and two sugars. Anyway, they didn't charge me for the part or labor--cool!

    Something related...

I like the iPod idea - but ONLY if you add x hours of exclusive audio recordings relating to the offer.

Or, how about a laptop - preloaded with scripts, software, videos and guides relating to the offer.

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.

So far it seems most people here have gone down the route of bonus's that can be given by the owner of the actual product and not affiliates :S

Am i right in thinking you meant something that the affiliate could offer as an incentive and then also seperatly as a JV/Affiliate who brings in the most sales or meets a mark what would you want?

If so then as a top affiliate/JV then extra cash is the best choice! Which you can then spend on something you actually want....

Buying from an affiliate would depend if it was material that he got the owner to add as extra's that i don't already have or a choice of physical products! (no one ever seems to give a choice).

        Hi Sean

I would have thought that your customers who fork out good cash to buy your product would be able to afford any 3 - 6 day cruise (and probably longer) and so it wouldn't be that appealing . . .

I love Karl's idea of an ipod full of quality and relevant MP3s

        Just my 2 cents

That's true...but if the course were relevant to marketers and everyone
who purchased it received a complimentary cruise it could turn into one
heck of a networking event.....or not.

I know I have fun at events and get to meet all sorts of great folks...so I would think it would be a pretty cool gig not to mention probably worth more long term. My wife however isn't down with the cruise thing so although I like it....it does not appeal as much as a rip roaring networking extravaganza in Vegas......

The ipod idea is excellent as well...

          Great feed back here!

When I see bonuses like that I think of incentive certificates which are purchased in bulk. Usually the customer has to pay a fee to book and the costs magically end up more than if they booked their own vacation. If it's one of those I would rather not have it.

A good video of some extra inside information would get me excited.

The gift devalues the course. When I'm offered a product for a certain price that's fine, but if I'm told I can get this and this and this if I buy THIS, then I automatically assume that the THIS is made of poo.

Just my humble opoonion. I mean, opinion. K, bad joke, I know.

When Frank Kern came out with MC2, the bonus that took me over the buying edge came from Andy Jenkins. It was 2 months free use of all the Stompernet site and its information, a 3-day Stompernet Live (no pitchfest selling from stage), and an extra (secret) day at MC2 live.

As I look at that bonus it was a promise of several additional chances to continue learning, while at the same time getting to meet with others in IM.

The bounus he gave was worth as much as the MC2. It was like getting double my money's worth.
