Don't overdo the Video!

Do you use? or wan't to use video on your web site? yes of course you do.
As with everything else on the web, people in IM are starting to overuse the medium. I get hundreds of emails a day in my inboxes, don't get me wrong, I wan't to and need to keep upto date with whats going on in the IM scene.

What seems to be happening now, is that everyone that sends me an email
starts with the header "Watch this latest video" or "Watch this webinar replay". What used to take me an hour or so to go through my email, before all this video saturation, would now take me all day, if I let it.

I haven't got the time to watch a 15 min video here and a 30 min video there, not to mention the one hour seminar replays. I would never get anything done. Neither would anyone else, so don't overdo it.

Video is great,no doubt about that, but it needs to be moderated, 5min bite sized videos interspersed with text copy, would be enough to get the main message across. Then to lead on to further 5min videos to emphasise further points in the sales pitch. I like to call these 'Flush Videos', it moves the prospect along step by step, they feel they have got more interaction and control, rather than making them want to jump off the page halfway through a half hour video, where they have no alternative other than watch it all the way to the end.

Dynamic Flush Videos.

Do you have any advice on video transmission speeds? I just bought a Flip Mino HD which I like, but trying to load a 6 min vid up to youtube has indicated anything from 3 hours to 6 hours. Do you think this is a formatting problem, transmission pipe problem, or something else?

    Appreciate any advice.
