Help Please 400 views in 2 days and 0 click throughs

I set up a wordpress blog and SEO'd it. It's been up for a couple of months and is about 22nd on google, 50th on yahoo and the other day shot up to 3rd on bing.

My traffic went from about 15 views per day to 200 in 1 day. It's been up there for 2 days now and I've had 400 unique visitors with an acceptable bounce rate.

My problem is not a single person has even clicked on my link. I've tried a story presell which obviously isn't working. I'm think of adding a review style presell post. Does anybody have any other suggestions as for the way to go.

My blog is a facebook game website. Has anybody had any success with a particular type of presell.

Thanx in advance

There's this one thing that you can try, and since i can't actually view your website, i'm taking a shot in the dark.

Don't try too hard. Take a look at the website and read it through the eyes of a random visitor. If you're trying too hard, it automatically sends alarm bells ringing in people's minds and they put their guards up. How that affects you is, they don't click.

So, read through your page a couple of times, and if you can, try and get some friends to look at it too. You can then talk to them about their views, and find out what else you could include, which would've made them click through.

Another thing. Are you sure that the keyword you're choosing is one which calls to action ?
Like maybe a "buy" type keyword ?
Try and pick your KWs such that the audience that comes to your site is already looking for the product you're selling.

Should help you improve your click-throughs a little..

Thank you for your comments, the buying keyword thing. I've been thinking about this and I've been thinking about it and maybe I've chosen the wrong keyword, It's more for someone who's looking for a freebee, I think I'm going to have to find a new keyword.

I've taken all of your other advise onboard and will get to work on that as well. thanks again.

ok, I will assume your link is working!

You need to make your link clickable! Now lets say you are explaining how you can lose 1 pound a week, following this simple method and you explain to the person, all the steps necessary for them to lose the weight, get them to keep on reading, and at the end you say something like, but the problem is, with this method you can lose only 1 pound a week, but if you want to lose 5 pounds a week "THIS Particular Diet Plan" can Get you there!

Something along those lines of course! Also review style. You can write a review of paid products, and if at the bottom you offered a free product that does all the paid once did, the click on the free product would be amazing.

I am saying this, because you have to get them to keep on reading, and offer them something they really wish to have, in order for them to click!

I agree with pragun, you should try to take a look at your website as if you were a visitor and think what would make you click the link. what would you like to see on that particular site etc. thinking like your customer and putting yourself in their shows will help you sell.

I've put the website in my signature file. The keyword you see is the one I've optimised it for. It also seems to be optimised for Farmville tips and secrets which is totally unintentional.

I think whatever you are advertising, you might want to put it closer to the content.

Have you seen analytics? Do you know if they are reading your stuff and staying on the site? Or are they leaving right away?

There is some kind of simple mouse software (Google it) that will show you what people are doing when they come to your site. Check it out.

Congrats to doing that kind of traffic though. It is only a matter of time before you monetize.

This may be totally off base, but I'd sure want to test it if I were in your shoes.

You put up a nice little box advertisement to the side, but if I thought I was getting "freebie seekers", I would hit them right between the eyes with the price right now. Then I would tell them why it is a bargain.

I'd make sure they understood they are going blow past their friends and neighbors if they know the secrets in this guide.

You need to think like a player, and the reason they are looking for advice. Make them HUNGRY to buy the guide by hitting the hot buttons you believe they have.

While there are a high percentage of kids in Farmville, I am an old fart at 50 years old, and I have tons of friends who constantly drive me crazy with invitations to Farmville. Everyone of them has a credit card, and all them are addicted to the game.

Feed their passion, but only with crumbs, the meat and potatoes is in the guide.

    Hi,

I've just started messing around with the farmville niche. The keyword farmville tips is definately a freebee hunter keyword. You should consider building a list though.

    Hi Daz,

Read your page. Yes, you're certainly optimized for Farmville Tips. It's up
to you of course, but you know if you optimize if for something more of a
'buying' keyword you'll lose your ranking and be starting over again.

I would try some things and test it. You may be able to convert some people
who want 'more' tips, or more powerful tips.

I listened to a webinar a few days ago, and this guy used the Farmville game
niche as an example for doing demographic market research. So what a stroke
    of good luck for you.

The majority of FV players are caucasian women in late teens up to 30s. Don't
recall the exact age in the 30s. So that is who you're talking to. You'll talk to
them differently from the way you'd talk to guys. Or women in other groups, etc.

One big difference with writing to a predominantly female audience is that they
just want to know what it does that will help them. Not interested in specifics,
details, specs, etc. That's a slight generalization but an accurate one. Of course
that can change depending on product and specific female demographic audience.

    Ok...

Your copy takes too long to get to the meat. The meat's in the third paragraph. You
could actually delete the first two paragraphs and it would not hurt the copy. That's
one good indicator/test of the usefulness of copy.

The overall copy is homogeneous - all the same: 4-5 sentence paragraphs and a lot
of them. If you scroll up and down it looks like a wall of text. That does not help you.

    Break it up.

Put some shorter paragraphs in there, 1-2 sentences. Not too many, just a few but
    well-placed to break it up.

Now the worst part is that I can smell a sales pitch way before the end. If I can, you
can safely bet your readers can. It has to be completely transparent and "safe."

One thing you can try is talking about your tips. Then, take one or two tips from your
product and discuss them blindly. Don't identify them, outright. Don't mention they're
    in a product. In fact...

Do not mention the product's name at all.

Just refer to this really powerful thing - tip, strategy, tactic, whatever - and do not
completely reveal it. Just mention one ultra cool "thing it will do for them." Ok?

Then, very casually mention that they can read more about that ultra cool thing...

    >> here.

Don't mention link. Don't mention anything that can even be remotely associated
with "sales, selling, product, link to somewhere else, etc."

Put a few, 3 maybe, bulleted tips earlier in the copy around the middle, maybe. 3
    tips you're giving away, anyway.

Use your judgement with how the revised copy appeals to your sense of space,
    uncluttered look, etc.

Try all that and see what happens.

Well, your getting a nice amount of traffic and its a good clean site too.

I would also try adsense and see how that goes then maybe target the buying keywords.

In my own experience of playing computer/console games for years since the 80s I have never looked to buy any game guides whatsoever although I would look for freely available tips online regularly. I have owned loads of different gaming platforms and owned hundreds of games. So is there any other service for farmville you could market that doesnt involve tips ?

Going of what the poster above has just told us on the demographics for players (women 18 - 30), maybe even putting a beauty product on there that looks really tempting, most women of that age are very self concious when it comes to their looks. Just a block add like you have now.

Anythings worth a go before you blow your serps trying to get ranked for other keywords.

It's hard to comment without seeing your site.

But I now have 50 hubpages, and it's interesting to see that 90% of my clicks have come from a single hub! Needless to say if I write another 50 hubs like that one, I will be a moderately wealthy man!

Crank out that Google Analytics and get number crunching!

    Hello Daz,
Ken's advice is spot on. It may also be worth putting the post about how to level up fast nearer the top of the page, as that is the information that most people want.
    Good Luck,
    Amanda
