3 Steps to Get the Perfect Lead Magnet
I was trying to come up with the perfect way to create squeeze pages fast, or actually have some of my employees do it, but I kept hitting a wall when it came to the lead magnet.
Here's what I've come up with in a nutshell - and it's working pretty well right now.
1. Find the What the Market is Already Buying the most of.
2. Make the headline better.
3. Find a Lead Magnet for the benefit.
1. Find the What the Market is Already Buying the most of.
This was the first hurdle. After all, it doesn't matter how great your copy is, if you're trying to sell ice to Eskimos. Water to a man dying of thirst is more up my alley.
a. See if there's a Clickbank product for it.
- Go to Clickbank Marketplace or CB Engine.
- Do a search for your keyword.
- Visit the one with the highest gravity.
- Find it's benefit bullet points.
- Use the one you think is the best.
b. If there's no Clickbank product:
- Google "niche magazine"
- Go to the "Popular Articles" or "Featured Articles" section
- Rip the benefit from the top article.
2. Make the Headline Better
Sometimes copywriters "bury the benefit" either on purpose, or because they don't know any better. We want to put the benefit out front and center.
a. Write out what's in it for them (WIFT or WIFM)
e.g. If the benefit I was using was: "Get Really Good at Strumming the Guitar" here's how you should break it down:
- Write down the feature: How to Strum the Guitar.
- Ask why it's there: To make playing the guitar sound better.
- Ask why this matters: Because people want to play the guitar well.
- Get to the root emotion that drives them: Because they want to be seen as skilled.
b. Take your benefit and spice up the headline.
e.g. If the benefit I was using was: "Strum the Guitar to be Seen as Skilled" then, I want to make this a little more juicy.
Something like "Learn the Secret to Make Every Strum Sound Perfect, Just Like the Pros."
See how it links the schema of Pros as respected and skilled? Not bad for two minutes work.
3. Find a Lead Magnet that Harps on the Benefits
Here's the easiest part of the whole thing.
a. Go to YouTube and type in your keyword. For this example it's "How to Strum the Guitar."
Either
b1. Select the video with the most views.
or
b2. Watch a few of the videos and pick the one that is most helpful.
c. Go to the "embed" box (see the attachment) and copy the code into your thank you page or sandwich page.
And that's it! You've got your perfect lead magnet to put on your sandwich page, or thank you page and you didn't have to learn anything about your niche to create it!
Let me know if you need any help along the way with this.
