A neat 'but-maybe-technically-complex' telephone affiliate program idea‏

Lately I've been pondering a lot about SEO and how there are lots of affiliates who will purchase a domain name and use it to redirect to their affiliate link whilst trying to push their domain to higher PR and search listings.

This got me to thinking...

Every once in a while I will get an email from somebody urging me to call his/her 'hotline' number to get a special deal, XYZ etc etc...

I'am not the leasy bit familiar with phone systems and how extension numbers work but I have an idea I've been turning over since this morning.

What if an affiliate program could be integrated into an automated phone system, with extension numbers be used as AFFILIATE IDs?

Just like a typical online aff program, just transfering the idea, almost exactly to a telephone model.

Affiliate marketers could even setup a phone line on their own time that when called, "redirects" to 1-800-123-4567 ext# 57302 (57302 being their unique affiliate ID. Exactly like how SEO marketers dedicate a domain name to a single affiliate URL; same concept, just transferred to a different communications model.

Good idea or no?
