Where to Test My Website Speed??

Hello:
I have several dozen sites and a couple of hosting accounts with Bluehost, and just got a new one with hostgator a couple of months ago. My hostgator sites seem to be loading much slower. But before I blame the host, I want to run some tests. Does anyone know a good way to test my website load speed??

I have tried a few that I found doing Google searches, but they say the sites are fine. However, when I load them in my browser they are VERY slow compared to other sites. How can I get to the bottom of it?

Any other advice on creating a fast loading site? Thanks in advance!

Run it through the W3 validator:

The W3C Markup Validation Service

If you are using Google Analytics make sure the code is just above the </body> tag.

Dragging in feeds can slow it down as well.

Google has a tool in the webmaster area that tells you how fast your page loads

  If you're wanting to get an idea of how your host performs in terms of network speed and availability at different points all around the world, then head over to HostTracker [Website Uptime Monitoring Service] and enter a web address from your site.
  
  What it will do is give you the response times and network speeds measured when requesting your page from 30+ different servers in different parts of the world. That it tests a page from a variety of locations is important.
  
  If you're not getting good results from that or a comparable test, then you should probably move on to a different host.

  Get the Page Speed (Recommended by Google) and YSlow (Yahoo) add-ons for Firefox to determine the speed at which your pages load. Both of them will also give you suggestions how to increase page load speed. And both have detailed explanation. Here are the links -

  That's the only tool I have found to resemble the stats provided in Webmaster tools. Resembling at a pretty close match of time too.

Yep the google page speed plugin for firefox is great, just make sure you install the firebug addon as well if you don't have it already
