Is ignorance on fire better than knowledge on ice?

I can tell I am going to be posting a lot today.

A long time ago, I heard the expression that is the title of this post. It basically means not to waste time trying to learn every single detail before you take action - just learn something and then do something!!

When I came here 8 weeks ago, I used that approach. I could have spent hundreds of dollars on WSOs. I could have researched and researched and tried to become an expert before doing anything. I could have not done a thing until I felt sure of myself.

But I didn't. And I am making money.

I spent a grand total of $12.90 on WSOs.

I learned a technique and then tried it. I learned more, then tried it. I trusted the person teaching me and did whatever small step suggested instead of waiting for the whole picture before I started.

And I am making money.

If I had waited, I would have still not made a dime.

So my advice is to not wait - try something!!!

    I agree...
    Trying = learning
Trying and Succeeding = pleasurable learning
    Not trying = failing

    Shay,

Good point. I have found the only way to actually learn anything is to learn as I went.

Fortunately for me I already new html, alot about photoshop, and how to write before starting to IM. Everyday still I learn more online and when I learn something new I always realize that there are many more things I do not. When I figure out those things that I do not know then I realize there is more I do not know.

It is an on going process of learning.

The key for me was to keep at something until I got the results I wanted. So many times when I was starting out I stopped doing one project to do another because I thought it was better idea and a better chance to make some good money...

I had to learn so much on the go that it's rediculous, and I'm still learning and open to new ideas and techniques today.

Lol, Shay, you ARE on fire today! Grats!

To answer your question, I think that depends to a degree on the outcome. For example, if you had been ignorance on fire two months ago, snapping up stocks, without consulting any charts, you'd not be happy today. Conversely, if you had been "sitting tight", watching the charts, and the news, you may well have been quietly moving out of the market and into cash. Today you'd be happy.

If IM is no flash in the pan, there's no harm in spending a few months and studying, first, and if at the end of those months you don't make a move because there's something about it you don't like, have you lost anything?

According to the movie Forest Gump, yes it is.

not calling you a Gump. Congrats on taking action! :-)
That's the real key to success. So many people fail because they never really get started.

Naturally having knowledge and not doing anything with it can never be as
good as at least trying. At least when you try you have a chance.

Having said that, ignorance should only be a temporary situation. If you
stay ignorant forever, you are only going to get so far. Eventually you have
to learn in order to reach the next level. Now, that learning can come from
doing, yes, but you can't keep doing the same thing and expecting to get
      different results.

      That's called insanity.

And I should know because I was the poster boy for it.

I have to say ignorance on fire is best. Internet Marketing changes so often that if you wait until you are up to speed in every section of the business you will never begin. You may have knowledge but if you do nothing with it, it is useless.

As I have experienced, when you dive in, even with limited knowledge, you pick up things along the way either by trial and error or by getting stuck and needing to find a way forward.

If you're at the point where you're wondering whether to start a business or earn some extra cash with IM, then ignorance on fire can be an absolute godsend.

Sometimes too much knowledge can be stifling and can dampen the creative juices. For lots of folk, with the attainment of knowledge comes cynicism, mistrust and a host of limiting beliefs.

Take that leap of faith before you know any better, because maybe in the future you'll learn that it's not possible to do the things you've already done!

    Yes! Yes! Yes! Damn rights!

Wish some of my friends who have every info-product under the sun (an obvious exaggeration but it's disgusting how many courses and ebooks they buy and read through) would take this advice.
