Question about Niche Range

Hey All,
So I recently started a blog for my affiliate marketing "career", and this is my first time attempting anything with online marketing, so I've been testing different things and trying to learn different techniques.

My question is whether or not it's a good idea to have a broad range of products to market on a blog, or if I should just focus on one category of products and continually review those? For example, currently I am doing a range of anything from eBooks on working from home, to great deals on video games. Is that a bad idea in your eyes?

Honesty is the best policy here, please be open with me, any advice/critiques are welcome, I'm looking to learn and grow here. Thank you in advance!

Now I am by no means experienced, but I believe it is better to focus on a smaller niche rather than a large all purpose site, at least in the beginning. With a smaller niche range you will be able to create a more keyword dense site than having a broad range with a ton of different keywords point in different directions. I am not sure if that is entirely right and there is probably more to it, but that is my understanding of that.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you.

I would keep it tighter than what you have currently.

You can still promote a wide range of products, just make sure they are all tightly related.

For example, if you had a dog training site you could promote things like dog training e-books, dog training video courses, dog food, dog toys, dog furniture, etc.

Doing this, you're still able to promote a large amount of products and you can be sure that all your visitors are going to be targeted to most of them.

Yup, pick a smaller niche. Then after it is doing well, do another niche.

Another thing to keep in mind: if you focus on one niche/topic, over time you will be viewed as the expert in that field. Once you reach the status of expert, more of your list and followers will buy a product based on your recommendation alone.
