Would you buy a domain with an invalid pagerank?

I'm shopping for used/expired domains at Godaddy and there is a great one but when i check it out i see that the PR 1 is "invalid".
Would you buy it anyway? It has hundreds of backlinks and I want to put all new content on it anyway but is Google "mad" at it now? It shows as "listed" in Google.

Thanks for any opinions

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

The 'Fake PR' indicator may indicate a number of different things.

First, it could be an indicator of someone trying to game the system.

Second, the domain could have been redirected and is showing the PR of the redirect, not the actual site PR.

Lastly, the domain could have had some strong links removed after it expired but is still showing a high PR since the toolbar PR hasn't been updated.

My suggestion when buying expiring domains is to stick with ones that are currently indexed by Google, don't have fake PR and that have good links to the domain root showing in Yahoo Site Explorer. These domains will perform the best. When you get away from this, you'll tend to encounter more SEO challenges with the domain.

Domains don't have Page Rank; Pages have Page Rank. So if you are going to build a new page on that domain, the new PR will be based on that.

If the domain name was banned(delisted) from Google's index, then once you re-build it, you may have to submit it to Google for reconsideration.
