Google Suggest Hacking? Possible?

Hey,

I was wondering if it is possible to 'hack' google suggest?

What i mean is i see too often long phrases and suggestions given by google apparantly based on keywords people are searching for when it is really obvious that they are probably not and it should not be the top suggestion naturally at all.

Im not looking to do stupid things with this but really think it could work well for increasing my sites traffic for keyphrases if it's at all possible... big marketing and traffic potential!

Someone here must know!!!!

  • Yes, it is possible, and has been done many times.

I.e., for a while, if in google you typed "french military victories", it would say "Didn't you mean french military defeats?" (Internet Parody Hands French Military a Defeat)

While not as easy to do nowadays (because then a few other higher 'profile' hijackings took place, i.e., during the election, etc manipulating george bush's name (Google bomb - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), it essentially just involves creating a page specially crafted to a particular phrase, and getting as much 'link' juice to it as possible.

    And that is about it.

I dont know what exactly you mean with "hacking", but Google suggest has HUGE, HUGE potential which (IMHO) is greatly underestimated.

( We had an interesting debate about it a few weeks ago over at the SEO board )

Turns out that google suggest can return extremely good, high search volume keywords which NO OTHER method and software returns! We had the example of a keyword of a travel destination keyword (it was something like "cheap flights to hawaii" as far as i remember).....a KW which had crazy search volume but did NOT show up in adwords keyword tool, MNF or Market Samurai AT ALL. Read again: The #1 keyword did NOT show up using the conventional tools like adwords keyword suggest!

There are some scripts around on the net and methods where you can recursively take a list of keywords, say (EXAMPLE)

    "cheap flights to"

and then go through the list like

    "cheap flights to a"
    "cheap flights to b"
    ...

all the way down to "cheap flights to zz" and each time query google suggest using a simple script...will return a MASSIVE list of keywords.

Its also excellent for long tail keyword research.

I also found a free tool somewhere called "google suggestor", simple, but it returns quite some keywords..and a tool for creating such a recursive list of keywords is "keyword sniper pro"....(sold as WSO here a time ago)...but i am not sure whether its still being sold.

Well it really should be obvious how to get your domain or keyword to show, one of my domain names show but it was done naturally. It is based on search volume and popularity.

Now we have opposite remarks... one say's backlinks and the other says search volumes!

I tend to think it's done on search volume otherwise all the suggestions would show viagra lol

But anyone know how many searches? over how long?

Heck if it's just searches then a bot could easily be coded up to use proxy's and search for the same phrase over and over again!

      Brain get's ticking!

As a programmer I can promise you it is not done by backlinks. It is done by searches based in the db but also keep in mind that google is no dummy. They more than likely have the search based on session, ipp, geo-location, and etc.

Probably many factors are involved. I am not really going to mention any ideas on this because if I do then things could be abused...
