Finding your page in google listings?

All,
Still relatively new, and am trying a bunch of "new" to me techniques. I had a couple of questions.
1. I have 16 sites pointing back to my domain, but when I check backlinkwatcher it shows 1. How can I make sure that my links are being looked at as a backlink?

2. If I have a page out there in google land, how do I know which page of the google list it is showing up on? For instance, If I search for my keyword in in google, is there a way to know what page it is on without searching all 500 pages?

Thank you all very much!

    1. Usually it takes some time for google to index all pages and sort out backlinks. They will eventually show up (sometimes it takes months thou). Also make sure that google can reach the page with the backlink, or it simply will never file it.

    2. Use tools like Market Samurai or Traffic Travis (I'm sure warriors have lots of ideas for such tools, I think TT is free, but I'm not sure, and MS has a free trial).

I am using both Traffic Travis and SEO for Firefox. When I use TT it shows 2 backlinks.. SEO for Firefox shows 15 Backlinks. Thing is that all backlinks are on high ranking pages like ezine, hub, blogger so forth. Not quite sure why they are not being indexed... it has been about a month...

A tip I heard was to go to Google's external keyword tool & put your website addresses in (click the "Website content" button). Google will search your site for keywords. Based on that search, your site it will now be indexed.

In my experience, every different place you can track backlinks will give you a different answer, and they're usually all wrong.

I used to drive myself insane looking around wondering why links I KNEW were out there weren't being counted. Now I've just come to accept that they're there and being counted, even if certain checkers don't say so.

And I've found that even if your links aren't showing up anywhere, your rank will still generally increase if the links definitely exist.

Btw, I use the rank checker from seobook.com (Rank Checker - Track Google, Yahoo! Search, & Bing Rankings Free) to quickly see where I rank for certain keywords. It's a great way to see what impact your link-building is having on your ranking.

The proof of effective backlink building is how or if your site/page rises in the search engine rankings. Here's another free online tool that I use to check my ranking. Google Page rank checker

i wouldn't focus time and energy to ensure you backlinks are showing up. The key is to see if your rankings are improving
