Optimizing Google Adsense

What is the best way to get the highest CPC organic ads to appear on your website?

I know it varies by keyword and you can use the Adword Keyword tool to figure out CPC, but that is never the actual price for the organic CPC.

Is it based more on the content of your website or just how optimized it is for a specific group of words?

Is it more profitable to optimize for short tailed keywords?

How would I go about displaying the highest CPC ads possible for my niche?

  • Before you worry about getting high paying ads on your site you should worry about getting your visitors to click on those ads. The best way I have learned to do this is to make sure the traffic that is coming to your site is already i the buying mind set.

A good example of this is a review for a product. If you write a review for a product and some one lands on your site there is a good chance they are looking to buy that product. If you target your keywords right and an ad for that product appears in that review you have a good chance of the visitor clicking on that ad.

Of course this is a rather simplistic explanation but I hope it helps.

      Helpful and thanks.

We have been having fairly good success with our click through rate and have been split testing many different variations over the past few months.

My original question still stands because now we want to make the most for each click that we can now that people are clicking.

      Any advice?

One thing you might test (if you haven't already) is turning off "interest-based" ads. In your Adsense account it's under My Account>Account Settings

It's turned on by default. It displays ads for your users based on Google's knowledge of their interests. So if they're a book-lover, they might be seeing low-paying ads for the newest book releases or something. Google recommends you keep it on, but if you're in a high CPC niche, you might want to experiment with turning that off.

Now that's some information I'm looking for. Thanks Chris.

I turned it off so now we'll just wait and see.

If you like to have high CPC on your adsense, this means that you should be targeting on keyword phrases that you know advertisers are willing to pay more. There are some sites that will show you this information like spyfu.
However there are other factors that will determine your success like how competitive your keywords are and how much work you are prepared to put in like backlinking.

I can't really help you with that because my clicks are about .60 cents on average and I simply don't do any keyword research or anything.

But, maybe I'm in the Make Money Online Niche and people are paying good money for their ads and it would be different in other niches.

    Sorry
