Any advantage to having product name in the url?

I have a couple domain names that have the actual product name in the domain name. Should I do anything with these domains, or will they get shut down eventually anyways?

I guess my point is, are they worth spending time on?

Way too broad of a question, but if you have your product name in the domain, and that domain becomes popular, then obviously your branding for that product improves. So if you're planning on developing and advancing that product, you should keep your domain. Otherwise, let it expire.

While it is actually the product owner that holds rights and is the only one that can answer your question, let me give you something to chew on.

If you mention the products actual name, you do realize some actually go to the search engines and type that name in to see if they can..

    A. Find a better deal
    B. Find the real company
    C. Find a better discount

Thus losing you any possible sales...

This is something I didn't think of, and I absolutely agree. No matter what if you've branded a product name enough, people will do this. Whether it's your product or someone else's you run the risk of them googling it to get the results they're looking for. Definitely something to consider.

Trust me I have built affiliate networks and I used to manage a few very large affiliate programs as an affiliate manager...

Some affiliates are smart and offer a bonus to people if they buy through their link, I am sure you have seen this in IM. This is the thing though, some figure if you are offering a bonus maybe some other affiliate is. So they go google it and fins the best deal they can get.

So you better make sure if you are using the products name and offering a bonus, do your research and offer a better deal than any other affiliate.

Thanks for the info. This gives us a different way to look at domain
names and promoting. Great food for thought.
