Dust Off The Oldies...And Make More $$$

This is a real quick one for a change. I promise.

If you create products, or even if you sell affiliate products, you tend to let
the oldies fade into the night as you start to sell your new stuff, especially
if you're in the make money niche.

Well, after a while, with all the new folks coming into the marketplace, those
old products, especially if you haven't promoted them in a while, are brand
spanking new...to a lot of folks.

And, if they're still viable...meaning that they still work...why not dust them
off and start promoting them again.

I just did this with my first product that I had actively stopped promoting
about a year or so ago.

Not only have I made a few sales that I wouldn't have made, but these
sales led to upsells that I also wouldn't have gotten.

Today, I made $144.40 that I wouldn't have made had I NOT taken this
product off the shelf and dusted it off.

Unless it's a time sensitive product, if it sold once, it can sell again.

Told you this would be a quickie today.

Excellent advice Steven. In this industry one learns new techniques and approaches to improve conversions - often every day, it makes sense to go back and apply our new learnings to old projects. Thanks for the quickie.

Wow! I've never seen a Wag Report that fit in one screen.

So true. I periodically bring out my Recipes from 1-2 years ago, and always get a glut of new sales.

          Hey Steven,

Great post as always man. This is a great strategy and very true. Even if the product is outdated how long would it really take you to get it back up to date.

For instance, I have a blogging product that teaches people how to dominate Google with WordPress. Well, as much as WordPress is updated the product could very easily become outdated.

So, all I need to do is a quick update to make sure the product is in align with the current WordPress version and presto... the product is still great and up to date.

When you dust off those oldies but goodies and it needs a little updating, just go ahead and update it. The time spent will be well worth it.

Of course old products still hold some value, and it is to the marketers detriment to forget about them and stop making those sales. Heck I am a fan of antiques and old vinyl record albums. If people stopped selling them because they are old I would be very sad.

The very first product that I ever made almost 20 years ago and sold offline in full page magazine ads is still selling just as good today on the interent as it did years ago in magazines.

When you got an ad that works keep running it.
