My top list building plan for newbies!

The hardest part of building a list is to start with it. just getting your first 100 subscribers could take ages for some.

here is a quick plan for newbies to start building a huge list fast.

get a great free offer and make a squeeze page for it. now use low cost content network on adwords for traffic. also join all giveaway events and upgrade for all the big ones. dont be scared to spend some money for supercharging your list. also use all free traffic methods that you knpw about.

use this until you have 300 subscribers.

Then start doing 3 adswaps a week with similar lists. try going for adswaps with bigger lists. if you have a really good offer you will get some swaps with bigger lists.

keep doing adswap and entering giveaway events. when you start doing adswaps you dont need asdwords anymore. your list will grow exponentially.

I hope this strategy is useful.

If anyone wants to add something?

Looks like a solid plan to get some subscribers. I've been experimenting with some new list building techniques, going to be sharing them soon. The adswaps are definitely crucial!

I think the one of the most important things that people don't seem to mention on here a lot is that you want your list to respect you and keep you around forever. Always be giving them lots of great information that they can use. Personally for every promotion I send them, I try to send 8 bits of relevant information. It is very important to treat them like gold.

      Amen to that.

THAT is the difference between people who are after a quick buck and those that are building success.

If you treat your customers like they're going to be around for life - you won't make stupid mistakes chasing the first sale and lose them.

Be CAREFUL with placing an ad on AdWords pointing to your squeeze page. Google clearly states in their terms that they do not like pages that collect user information. I had one of my accounts suspended just because I promoted a squeeze page. And it was very well optimized, and had a bunch of content so it does not look like a simple squeeze page for Google, but a good content page (as they want to provide a good user experience).

So, unless you know how to overcome this, be very careful with Google. Other search engines are more friendly in this case.

I fully agree with Alex. Before going to land on a squeeze page confirm that your page is designed according to Google guidelines.
Otherwise you will get nothing of what you pay and you will also be banned by Google.

Excuse me, but since when Google refuses squeeze pages?

To my knowledge, Google has no problem with squeeze pages as long as you stick to these rules:

1-Don't use the word FREE in your ad if you're asking for email addresses, Google doesn't consider a forced optin as a free offer, if you say free, then you have to place the download link directly on your landing page.

2-You have to have a link to a clear privacy policy, terms of service, and YOUR CONTACT information on the landing page.

3-DON'T USE EXIT POP UPS (or any type of pop ups) on your landing page.

4- Don't use your landing page for multiple purposes, define only one purpose for your page and stick to it..

      Google defines these purposes as:
      -Making a sale.
      -Get optins
      -Branding
i.e., don't use a squeeze page to collect emails and place a link on it to a sales page, only one purpose for a single page is accepted.

      I wish this helps

There are a couple of great Giveaways launching in the next couple of weeks. You can check out Facebook for Giveaways and JVs.

It's much easier to strike a JV deal while being on Facebook than by emailing or trying to connect through LinkedIn.

And like others mentioned before me, provide value! Always try to 'see' the information you're sharing with your list, from their perspective. Answer this simple question: "Would this free gift really help me?"

If the answer is 'YES', you know what to do... Success is yours

If you don't want to create your own freebie system right away to get optins there is a new service that just came out today that lets you build your list while giving away gifts from other people.
Its a viral system and depending on what your target market is, it may be useful to you. I just posted a short blurb about it on my blog

It might not work for you depending on what your target is though. I think one of the most important elements people forget about is making the free product or service relevant to the target market.

If you are trying to build a dog training list, giving away products on marketing isn't going to work.
Unfortunately the viral places I've seen only focus on the Make Money online niche.

Has anyone heard of any others?

I would always suggest article writing to someone brand new looking for traffic/subscribers. Apart from PPC, it's the only really quick and sure way to get traffic coming in when you have no other sources.

3 good articles a day to EZA and a decent squeeze page should start getting 2 or 3 subscribers a day pretty quickly, which isn;t bad when you're starting out.

Of course all free traffic methods would help to get a steady drip of traffic to your squeeze pages. But if you want to supercharge it, it would be alot better.

You need to get a seed list of at least 300 as quick as possible to do ad swaps.

A quick way to build your list with adwords is to use images. You can constantly get 1p clicks with this way.
