Complete Product set or minibooks / sites.

Hey there,

I am developing a full training course that covers a large range of topics (but all related category), and I was trying to work out if you guys think that it is better to:

1) Do a full homestudy course for a large price point / membership site or
2) Series of mini books / videos that are each pretty cheap.

I would love to hear in particular from anyone who has actually split tested this approach, or has any objective data on it (rather than anecdotal)

I do not have any actual data to present, but just an idea:

Why not the best of both worlds?

Why not create a home study course with a high price point, with a membership upsell to complement the course?

Or perhaps a series of shorter video's with a "get'em hooked" type goal, then a large home study/membership upsell?

Maybe even a home study course, with "booster module" addons down the road... To keep the customers in your funnel, and paying for new and updated content without hitting them up for the FULL home study course price every time.

I see what you are asking, and I would be curious to hear others feedback as well. All I am saying is maybe to branch out your thinking to even MORE profit streams!

    Best of luck!

      Glad to be of help!

I find that sometimes it just helps to get a second opinion, ya know?

I know for SURE that lots of times while I am working on a product or website, others have ideas I would have NEVER thought of that end up working wonders!

Keep me up to date with what you end up doing please!

  • Are you new to this?

If you are, while starting a home study course sounds like a great idea, unless you have discipline, and a lot of confidence behind you, you will find you probably won't finish it, and you will probably get discouraged when you don't start seeing thousands of dollars in sales as soon as you release it.

That is due to a number of factors:
    • Inexperience in how to effectively market it or promote it
    • Lack of confidence (previous track record), knowing that *after* you finish the project, you will probably have to spend 2-3x (if not longer) marketing it before you see the (significant) types of results you want
    • Being an unknown in the marketplace (you'll need to establish trust/credibility/etc).

Personally I'd recommend (especially if you are asking for advice on this particular subject, as I would venture to say this is the first time you've done something like this) -- start out with e-books first. Once you start seeing success with those (and you'll need to work at it initially), then you can move on to bigger and more ambitious projects.

I agree otherwise you could have a big pile of boxes in your house and no-one to sell them too. Start smaller, give value, build up a customer base and a reputation, gather testimonials and then go for the home study course.
