Selling a product over $1999.00

Hi guys

A friend of mine is selling a product at about the $1999.00 .. he is looking to sell through Clickbank.

I've not tried actually selling products through clickbank although I have heard somewhere that your first product is limited to a certain price.

Is that true .. help?

Cheers

Hi as much as I know about, clickbank will credit you about how long you are in business and yes maybe they will not agree on such a price and block the product. But again I am not an expert either.

I think you may have to start out with a $97 product max. But you will have to double check with Clickbank to be sure. Someone once posted a link to a Clickbank product that was like $3000 - $6000. I think it was one massive pdf. So its possible to use clickbank if they approve it.

I don't know about clickbank limits but I definitely know that I haven't seen anyone promoting high ticket product on CB.

i second that, i have yet to see a product that is over $1000 in the clickbank market.

  • Yes, there is actually a limit to a clickbank product starting out. I believe it is actually maximum $50. You need to contact them to raise your limit.

You aren't going to get approval on a $2k product at CB. Your friend should read the TOS of sites before planning to use them. The price limits are clearly described there.

This depends entirely on your friends product but CB is NOT a good mechanism for high ticket items IMHO.

    1) Their % is huge compared to a traditional merchant account, you will get seriously stung.

    2) They offer refunds without even contacting you as a vendor.

You have no choice whether to offer a refund with CB, you are presumably selling something of considerable market value if it's priced at $2k.

They can download it, pass it about, refund it in seconds without even reading it.

They do also have limits in place on new vendors of $50 , you can easily get this upped however.

I would look at alternatives if I were you before assuming CB is your best bet.

I should have also said that this is a physical product. The reason he was looking at clickbank was that he wanted affiliates fast.

What alternatives would you suggest to get affiliates to sell a physical product?

You will need to check with CB about physical products.

Last time I checked you could do physical products but only as an addon to an electronic product not as an item on it's own. You'll need to look into this carefully.

I would also be very very wary of CB's refund policy with physical products, because if they refund on demand without question on electronic products it's annoying, if they do so on physical, you're seriously out of pocket.

As far as "Affiliates fast", this is such a myth about Clickbank.

The argument is you'll leverage a million affiliates all waiting desperately for your product.

The reality is , yeah it puts you in front of eyeballs but not to the degree you're flooded with affiliates all knocking down your door.

CB is probably harder to get started than other options as many affiliates only look at high grav products, you'll need a JV launch to get "up there" initially to even attract visitors.

Clickbank isn't an automatic gravy train , nor does it deliver instant affiliates to your door unless your in a new niche and there's no competition.

I sell certain products in the $1,000 - $4,000 range. Obviously, they do not sell as well but one sale is sweet. It is in the "Medical Equipment" niche.

Do you use Clickbank for that?

  • Clickbank for a $2k product?? even if you could (which you can't, their max is $500 and you need to be pre-approved for that), why would you use such an inefficient platform for high ticket products? their processing fee is around 8% (!!!) and their refund policy is humongous.

Clickbank is for sub-$197 products, but not for anything higher.

Not only won't it be approved on CB, why would you want it on CB? At 7.5% fees you'd be much better to create a merchant account for selling at this price range and picking up affiliates in different ways. ($150 in fees for a $1999.00 product with 7.5% fees from CB).

What would you use for tracking affiliates?

You can do high priced products on Clickbank I believe.

Not sure about $2k or above, but $500, $750 products etc are all possible and I've seen them for sale many times.

On one of Clickbank's pages I saw a while ago I believe their criteria for selling high priced products was you must have...

      1) Low chargeback rates
      2) A low historical refund rate (Under 10%)
      3) Over 2,500 sales processed through Clickbank (not sure on this number, it was somewhere in this region)

If your refund rate has been over 10% you probably have no chance of getting a high priced product approved.

If your refund rate is very low like 3-4% over a couple of years then that should work in your favour.

He's not been on CB Before.

Folks , sometimes it does pay to actually read the OP and the existing responses.

Must be 10 folks in here all saying the exact same thing.
