Do traffic exchanges work?

Hey Warriors,

I'm learning a lot about traffic exchanges these days and testing them.

Has anyone used them to success? Fabian Tan and Steven Wagenheim have used them and I respect both of them...so they are worth a look at least.

Cheers,

Brad

No, I haven't ever tried them officially. I suppose it depends on what you're looking at. Pseudo blogging? Then probably they would work as your fellow bloggers are seldom your direct competition. Info products? Yeah, maybe in theory. If I like what you're offering, I'm likely to trust that you'll give me good recommendations, and the same is true for whoever else is in the network. Keep us posted, definitely.

To be honest, you need to play it smart when using these type of traffic.
You need to leverage those traffic to gain more traffic.
For example, use them along with ViralInviter to get more traffic so you won't depend them entirely for all the traffic.

If traffic exchanges didn't work Mike Filsaime would have taken his InstantBuzz site down long ago and Robert Puddy wouldn't have his name splashed on the front page of iLoveHits.

They do work, if they are used in the correct way. Most of the time they are used to generate leads by using opt-in forms. instead of trying to sell a product to you right on the spot they just grab your info to add to their mailing list so they can sell to you when you have more than enough time to read their their enitre site.

They work. You need to understand how the people who
populate them think. If you can offer a solution, for free,
to the people who actually surf on these things you can
build a list of people with them.

    Sweeping generalizations:
TE users are not WF readers. I don't think they read
marketing books either, they probably prefer to watch TV.
They tend to be older and less tech-savvy, not having
had computers in their school years. In fact they just
want to make a little money online and are fairly clueless
about how to go about it.

If you can show them how to make some money and
make meager self-education demands on them you can
make some friends who will read your emails for a long time.

traffic exchanges CAN be useful, particularly when used ONLY to get opt-ins for your mailing list.

If you have NO other way to generate traffic then traffic exchanges may be worth the time involved for you. But there are better ways to get traffic to your site.

To me traffic exchanges are useless and bring nothing but untargeted traffic to your site that is going to view it for 20 seconds and then leave.

This is not to say they are useless, some people have used them to great advantages. This really depends upon what you are promoting, what you are trying to do.. If you are trying to sell a products vs just getting an opt-in user then your response will be different.

You best bet would be to take a handful of them and test out what you are trying to do and see what results you get. I would not invest money during the testing phase, just spend some time and try different things and see what clicks if anything clicks at all.. If nothing clicks try tweaking your method some and see what happens.

Beware of junk getting onto your computer. Viruses etc.

Remember, you're in an environment where everyone is selling something also.

It's 10X easier to sell to people that are not trying to sell to you- so niche it up for faster and easier success.

Traffic Exchanges work. Depends on what you want to
achieve and whether you know how to market to these
    people.

People often forget that Traffic Exchange people
are still people in a niche.

Identify what they want/need and sell accordingly.

    Brad,

I wrote a report on this topic a while ago, I'll send you a copy.

It works, but personally I never promoted a program or an ebook. I've acquired leads through more generic funnel and sell on more generic idea. That seems to work for me.

For example, I'd have a lead capture page up offering report on how to profit from Traffic Exchange (true example). Then the report gives 5 pages worth of information on how to sell reports using traffic exchange -- nothing new to Warriors (even too basic actually), but it is for new marketers who attempt to promote something using TEs.

They'll download my report. Then the report gives a link to another site. A sale is made.

But funny you asked, I was on traffic exchange this morning, within 30 minutes, my ZoneLab asked me to permit connection to internet. I clicked YES on this occasion, and all of the sudden my computer shut down and restarted.

It then disabled Task Manager to function and gave Spyware. It took me 30 minutes or so to clean up though.

Traffic exchanges work if your objective is to create the lead first and followup with the prospects later.

        Personally..yep,

Just about everything works if you know how to work it..
If you don't then we need to learn..

Take Robert Puddy for instance..he offers free what most
TE wants and that is Splash Pages..

On the same token, that is one way of suceeding with TE..
As for referals don't try it in TE everybody just about have join..

However, there is a way though..and boy can we get rich in a
        very cheap way..Shuckins!
