Before you say do both, I just wanted or curious to know which one of the 2 would get you more traffic when submitting an article and focusing on getting traffic on that article.

Thankx.

Initially, submitting articles will more than likely get you more traffic.

However, if you do things right and build links the way you are supposed to, it won't be long before the search engines start paying attention to your site. When this happens, often times, you are able to get enough traffic from the search engines to not have to write as many articles.

Honestly he question doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It completely depends on what keywords you rank for, how much traffic those keywords get, how well you rank, etc. And the same questions apply to your articles, as well as how well you write, how well your articles convert, etc.

Generally speaking though, articles can serve both purposes - they generate immediate traffic and residual traffic. If you do things correctly, they will also help you natural search ranking and can provide you with organic traffic in the long run.

Post them to your blog first then submit them with new titles and mix the links back to your site. You would be better to do half of each than only one.

Ideally, your site itself will start to attract repeat traffic. I know this is not answering the question, but don't underestimate the importance of having your site ready to build from what you receive. Don't think that increasing traffic is solely based on what you do off site, because in my opinion that is just 10% of the battle at most.

If you submit one article to 400 directories it will probably not end up ranking very high in the search engines. I only say this because there will be so many versions of it floating around.

However, if you have one version on your site and completely rewrite it and submit that to the article directories, that is a viable option.

Bottom line your overall goal should be Search Engine Traffic, NOT social Bookmarking Traffic, NOT Article Directory Traffic, NOT Squidoo Traffic, NOT Blog/Forum Traffic etc... But make no mistake about it those avenues are fantastic for building quality backlinks. So by all means go ahead and pursue those options. Just be sure to keep your eye on the BIG Prize and that is
    Search Engine Traffic.
