How To Ensure Affiliates Get Their Commissions When You Are Collecting Opt-ins?

Hello,
I am looking to build a list and send my prospects free stuff for a week before I send them the link to the salespage. My product is currently on clickbank and I want to make sure that my affiliates get their commissions when I eventually have a sale. Can anyone point out the right way to do it?

I think in the system you have option to setup automatically commissions for your affiliates when you make some sales.
I have affiliate on plimus and work perfectly.

Thanks for the clarification Dan. This is really helpful. So basically I need not change a thing.

Sure, don't use clickbank to manage your affiliate program.... history shows there is nothing "sure" about affiliates getting tracked accurately with clickbank

Choose a professional affiliate management solution that tracks by combined IP and cookie. That way when people return... even if they type the direct url in and even if they clear cookies or use another browser to go back to the site the affiliate gets credit later.

Clickbank has attempted to improve their affiliate tracking after all the pressure and bad press over the years... but I am not convinced they have done it right.

I use 1 Shopping Cart. It lets you set up any URL on an affiliate program, which becomes a custom affiliate link for your affiliate and will track all referrals to that URL (opt-in page, video, any webpage or blog). Then, when the prospect goes to purchase later, the sale is credited to that affiliate.

Unlike CB, you can set the length of tracking for as long as you want - including lifetime tracking. Get your affiliates to send prospects to your opt-in page, then when any purchase is made in that program - weeks or months later - your affiliate will get the commission(s).

You don't need to change from clickbank, all you need to do is make sure you only link back to your sales page with natural links - i.e. don't link back to your product page with one of your own hop links, this, and only this would overwrite the affiliate cookie which has already been picked up.

Obviously you can't guarantee that affiliates wont overwrite each others cookies (and this can happen on any affiliate network really, not just clickbank), but as long as you don't overwrite it you should be good.
