GIMP what happened to the layers tab?

I was using a version that was several years old, but I upgraded to the latest version (2.6 I think). What happened to the Layers tab?

try ctrl + L. Should show you the layers.

Do you use GIMPshop.com - A GIMP hack by Scott Moschella for gimp, I used to use it and found it better then the normal layout.

Yes it took me a while to adjust at first but now I would be lost if I opened up the normal GIMP I had not used it in that long. Is a great piece of kit though Gimp especially being free.
