Submitt to one directory or a lot?

Hi I'm fairly new to this, and could really use some help. This might be a dumb question

but here it goes. I submitted an article to Ezine Articles it says if picked up it would send

the article out to other directories. Do I submitt a article to one directory or submitt the

same article to a whole list of directories? Help clear this up.

Thank You:

Rich

Is there any good way to know exactly where your article appears? (which sites)

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

You can find out where your article appears with this simple strategy I use.

First of all you must ensure your article title is unique otherwise when you come to check you will get a mix of yours and that of maybe a thousand others.

      1. Choose your article title

      2. Go to Google and enter your title with quotes for example "Build a list today". If it is already taken google will show you in the reults. If not taken then it means your title is unique.

      What next?

      3. Submit your article

      4. Wait a few days

      5. Visit Google again and enter your article title and the Google results will show you where your articles have been published online.

      6. Click on the links and visit the sites and you will find your articles published.

I can assure you it is a nice feeling to see your articles published around the net.

      Hope this helps Rich too.

Submit to the directories which rank the highest for your key phrase and directories in your niche.

To find out how many sites have taken your article up "do a search with your title in double quotation marks"

Just wondering, when you submit articles to other directories, do you have to change them? I know some people do, but is it a must? I believe most directories just ask that the work be your own, but not necessarily that it hasn't been submitted elsewhere - or am I wrong?

Also, if I submit the same article to Goarticles as I do to Ezinearticles, how can I prove that both articles are mine, especially if I use different pen names? Is it a case of them looking at where the resource box leads to?

      Hi WM,

The way I understand it is this,

Each of your articles must be unique otherwise they will be seen as duplicate and simply archived somewhere by Google.

The reason for this nis that Google wants to give its clients (you and I by the way) the best deal. How? Well, if your article you have sent to 400 articles directories ranks in positions 1, 3, 5 and 10 for instance, then as far as Google is concerned, that is the same content in 4 positions!

Google would rather you have 1 position and the others (3,5 and 10) be content from someone or somewhere else.

It's fair to say it is simple business sense.

That said this should not worry you if you are only trying to get backlinks.

      Hope this helps.

      I foergot to add this.

It is not the pen name that matters but the content.

      Try this,

      Get some plr article

Take a chunk from it and enter it in Google

You will be able to tell if that content already exists on the net. This is why plr articles MUST be rewritten

It is the same reason why some articles get rejected by article directories.

Have I said too much here?

  • I'm only submitting my articles to EzineArticles.
It accounts for most of my traffic, more than 80%.

Too many people are doing the same thing these days, I mean, you can
write an article and submit it to thousands of directories, but don't forget
that others are doing the same thing as you do.

This is especially true in IM niche.

So if you want to leverage on your effort, be creative and think out
    of the box.

    Hey Rich,

Usually, when you submit your article to Ezinearticles.com, I am not sure if they really submit your article to any directories.

What I do know is that your article is seen my many other article writers.

Some will pick up your article and post it on their sites. Your article will also be seen on Google and Yahoo which is always a good thing.

I'm curious about this, too, but I also have a stupid question. I understand the issue of Google and the duplicate content. But if the article directories who publish that content are the ones who get penalized for it, why would anyone want to run an article directory and take that chance? Or am I missing something?

    Hey Rich,

I submit my articles to only a fistful of article directories. I use to send my articles to a ton of directories and through constant testing I realized that there was only a fistful (ones I am currently using) that constantly gave me results, the rest were worthless. So you must test them and see what works for you.

While the 80/20 rule also applies here,
you probably only get most of your traffic
from 20% of the Article Directory sites,
but I still submit to all of them.

Using software to submit them automatically,
it really doesn't take up much time.

It depends if you are submitting it to these directories for backlinks or traffic. If you are submitting the links for traffic, just submitting it to a few of the high recognition article sites (ezinearticles, goarticles) will suffice. If you want backlinks, then you may want to take the time to submit the article to a few more directories.

    Rich,

Just so you know, Ezinearticles does not distribute your articles for you. They do allow authors to distribute your article on the web, but they don't do it for you.

If you want your articles on more article directories than Ezinearticles, then you'll need to distribute them yourself or pay someone to do it for you.

Just wanted to clear this up because I didn't want you thinking that EZA distributes for you. They don't.

You know how you submit multiple articles to different directories and how you use the linking in those articles is an area where there's probably huge room for increasing your results.

      Think about it.

Right after an article is accepted on a site like ezinearticles it gets it's best search engine ranking because it's listed in the new articles section (a high Google page rank page).

Then it gradually drops from those listings.

But if you always had a new article listed in that new article area you'd probably be doing better...especially if each of those articles pointed to content on your own website (establishing YOUR site as the authority site).

Now think about the way you submit.

If the same article is in the new article section of the major article directories at different times (especially if the articles are slightly different) then chances are you'll get that article indexed multiple times on Google...once for each directory.

And your own website pages will get indexed too.

So you may get the best results by having an article submission strategy.

Submit different articles to different directories each week.

If you start by writing say 12 articles...two for each major directory then keep writing at least 2 articles a week.

And be sure one any one day you're always submitting different articles to different directories that may work better...possibly.

This would be more work but it could be outsourced and keep in mind the work you do to write the articles in the first place.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

  • Hi Rick,

Stone Evans, the sponsor of PIPS and my website, states in training that you should do multiple submittals. He has a linkage to where you could submit automatically to over 1000 directories. The site you mentioned can take up to four weeks to list you. You can submit automatically or manually. There are ample free directories you can submit to.

    Good luck,

    Bob
