Question re Importing From Blogger To Wordpress

Can anyone help with this?:

I want to import a Blogger blog (I host it myself with my own domain) to Wordpress, but keep the same domain name.

How can I do that, since I have to have the Wordpress site already live, and it would have to be set up with a different domain name?

(I think I know the import process itself, I just need to know how to keep the same domain name).

Thanks.

Last time I did something similar, years ago... it was all manual.

Now you can just install WP in a subfolder or on another domain, go admin > Tools Import and import your blogger blog's content.

Then make sure the domain is not connected with blogger and make it empty. Move over the WP blog.

The only part I am not sure how it works (because I never had such a blog!) when the Blogger stuff is published on your domain. I saw in blogger they offer to buy a domain and have your blog on it... but never was interested in it. For me the "mysterious" part is separating the domain from blogger.

If you solve the rest - I can help with moving the WP blog anywhere

      Really appreciate your input.

I'm sure I can "make it empty" (good phrase!) and unconnected to blogger after the importing.

But then how do I move the now-WP blog (which, say, I've imported into 123.com temporarily) back over to my original xyz.com domain?

There are several methods to do it.

        1. Use the Export/Import feature built-in WP.
        - After having all the posts imported to 123.com > go Tools > Export. Follow the instructions and download the file.
        - Install WP at xyz.com. Go > Tools > Import. Click the bottom option (WordPress) and find the file you just downloaded in the previous step. Upload.

        2. Use the phpMyadmin to export/import the database
        - at 123.com go to cPanel > phpMyadmin > click on the datbaase name on the left. In the middle select Export. Make sure all tables are selected; SQL checked, Data & Structure checked (usually it is like that by default) + Save as file is checked. > Go. It will download a .sql file to your computer
        - at xyz.com do the same: cPanel, phpMyadmin
        - click on the database name on the left
        - Import > Browse: find the .sql file > Go

        #1 is obviously easier

(As I said above: if you need help, PM me)
