I think both are an awesome way to promote your business. I try to tie in as many things as I can with Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Squidoo, YouTube ect....I think you see what I am saying. They all have great value but it really is you are going to get out what you put into them. Best of luck with your promotion.

The more you are one the social media sites the better, I think it all depends on personal preference. Some people like twitter more then FB, while others don't like any social media at all. However, I do know that Facebook is way better at building relationships, then twitter.

These people are making a tremendous mistake, IMHO....

    • I limit my activities to the two social media sites you mentioned. I tried a couple others but didn't get traction and the time I was putting into managing multiple activities wasn't getting a good ROI.

Well, I used both. There are several plugins out there that you can use in
your blogs, so use it Your responsibility when they are your friends/followers
is to convert them to be your subscriber.

I was going to use both as well. It seems that everyone now a days has a Facebook account, but not as many people have a twitter account. For this reason i was going to market my facebook account more than my twitter account.

And a little fun tip for you. Ping.fm will auto post to Facebook, Facebook Fan Pages, Twitter, Plurk and more.
Just sync with your social sites at Ping.fm. Then type in your message and voila you did them all at once.

Naturally you want one on one interaction at the sites but this is an easy way to get a message out when needed.

Setup a Auto direct message when people add you. In this message, make sure to be friendly, and tell them to connect with you in facebook.

    This approach works really well.

Facebook's main value is it's ability to make your message go viral. Because when one person sees your message, or becomes a fan of your fan page, then all of their friends see that. Out of all of their friends, a few of them will follow. It tends to build a pyramid effect

Facebook is better than Twiiter I am able to build better relationships with others on FB than on Twitter. Twitter is just pages and pages of spam posts anymore.

    Both.

They both serve a purpose with marketing. I have built up fabulous relationships with people on Twitter, in fact more than on Facebook. But there is a reason for this, I use Twitter more!

Both are fabulous for driving traffic to your sites, building relationships, getting people to optin to your sites and ultimately make you money!

If you want to know more about Twitter check out one of my links at the bottom, I have a free ebook about Twitter which should help you get started. Warning though - they can both become addictive and are time consuming - but the results are worth it

I've had a go with all of them and really prefer youtube and yahoo answers, its more of a community and if you participate enough you can draw quite a crowd.
