Google Chrome haters: I'm calling you out!

I don't want to start a rant here (ok, maybe I do

), but I'm sick of all the nonsense I'm hearing about "problems" with Chrome.

Most chrome haters use one of the following four arguments:

Argument 1: "Chrome has security holes." Really? And which browser doesn't? Show me one browser that has no security holes and I will show you one misinformed individual. If you're that worried about browser security, just disable scripts and cookies.

Argument 2: "It has no extensions. It can't compete with FF." Last time I checked, IE doesn't allow extensions, and it has an 80% market share. The majority of internet users don't use extensions. Even those with FireFox. I don't think Google is under any pressure to hop on Mozilla's bandwagon. Chrome is an innovation, not a copycat.

Argument 3: "It has no mac support. It's doomed." We are all aware that Google has no interest in mac support for any of their products and an OSX version of the browser is completely unthinkable. /sarcasm

Argument 4: "This is just another form of control. Now they can see everything we're doing. They're so evil!" Why are you complaining? Are they putting a gun to your head? No. The reason they're in control is because their stuff is better than everyone else's. The reason fewer people are using IE and MSN is because it sucks! BUT NO! SHAME ON GOOGLE FOR GIVING US MORE VALUABLE SEARCH TOOLS AND APPLICATIONS! HOW DARE THEY! I LOVE FIREFOX SO MUCH EVEN THOUGH JUST ABOUT ALL OF ITS FUNDING COMES FROM GOOGLE, BUT BOOOOO GOOGLE!

Look, if you don't like the browser (or the company behind it) that's fine. But stop searching for negatives just because you personally don't see the value in it. Not everything Google touches turns to gold. But honestly, most of it does. So stop hating

It is still an infant and iimprovements will soon follow. The only thing I regret is having to look up all my passwords to access my sites. 80% of my surfing is to password protected areas so Chrome has lost it's luster in that respect.

It is fast and carries little weight on the resources and loads ten times faster than IE or FF. Give it time, it will get better with age.

Chrome is just another option. Use it or don't.

Not like you have to make your choice and stick with it forever!

BTW - I just added nothing to this thread. But ...it got my fingers moving for the first time today. So I benefited. Thanks WF ;-)

Why change soemthing that isn't broke?

Firefox suits me fine, it's fast, it has great extensions and chrome hasn't given me a reason to change.

Why argue at all? I don't want chrome because i think FF is better.

For me Chrome crashes less often and is faster than the others. I still have a couple of other browsers installed too, and do use those on occasion.

I'm addicted to firefox. I like google products and can't wait for the android phone to come out. But I just can't find it possible to move away from firefox, it has everything I need for browsing and never fails me.

The only thing I complain about is people jumping on something new with a fancy name and claiming it's the new "it" piece of software/service/etc. for IM.

I made this comparison in another thread, but I think it's important:

Chrome is taking off like Knols.

  If there's not a marketing lesson in all of this, then I don't know where to find one.
  If this new browser was Fred's Chrome or ITAX Chrome you probably wouldn't have heard of it.
  But being how it is Google and everyone has some type of opinion on Google, they are going to get a good market share right off. If they keep it remains to be seen though.
  I haven't tried it yet and really had no desire to, like many I'm happy with what I use. I said before I wouldn't try Chrome, but I think I will give it a try after it is out of beta and has some of the resources I use in my current browser.
  One thing about the speed has me thinking.
  If you stripped FireFox down to just what Chrome has, in other words level the field. Which would be faster and/or better then?
  I'm not trying to be a smartass or knock Chrome or FF, just being curious.

I'm quite comfortable with Chrome too but just couldn't locate where's the bookmark button...

How do I bookmark pages in Chrome?

  Block Chrome's net access using your firewall, then type Google.com into it and watch how many different IP addresses and domains your firewall tells you it is trying to contact.
  
  I have no idea why it needs to contact so many different places I didn't ask it contact.
  THAT worries me so I don't use Chrome.
  
  One day an algorithm is going to come along, look at our activity on the net and make a false judgement against some of us that will be used in a court of law.
  How do you defend yourself against that? Never mind, I'm getting off-topic now.
  
  In any case, it's just the early days, I'm sure Google has some nice things planned for Chrome and this will get M$ off their fat behind and making some well needed upgrades to IE.

I agree with you. I've been very impressed with the speed of Chrome, especially given its beta status! I'm only using it about half the time now though because Roboform doesn't work with it yet. This is really Roboform's problem, not Google's, but I can't live without it anymore so I'm still using IE a lot.

Not hating and don't want to nitpick, but IE has addons, for quite a while, in fact.

They're trying. It's kinda sad, but they're trying:

I could care less if it can compete...

I use Firefox because it rocks and the extensions are something I use every day to make life easier and more enjoyable. Some I just do not want to surf the web without.

Chrome may be cool... but for me its just another browser I installed, tried, and will rarely use because it provides no benefit to me over firefox at this time.

I don't hate google, I like it. But I use opera for browser because I'm getting used to it.

I will not searching for negatives for Chrome, but I also wish people will not try to convince me to change the browser.

Many things google touched, actually, do not do very well as expected.

I don't really care what people said about things, IE not perfect, firefox still has compatible problem...

So what, I use Chrome for Google readers and application, firefox as my main browser and IE for sites that don't work with firefox.

Chrome is the browser that runs Javascript super fast! No argue about that. They build Chrome to clear the path of slow Javascript execution on Firefox or IE...why argue, just use them for different purpose.

  I used both for a number of hours and I didn't really notice a difference in speed.

I choose argument 5: I hate it when any non-essential software introduces running programs that always seek access to the internet, whether the software is in use or not.

I was very disappointed in Google for forcing their "updater" on everyone.

Other than that, I saw no noticable difference in performance. I deleted it and had to dig around the internet to find out how to finally unistall their "updater"...which they did not provide an option to uninstall.

I cannot stand system hijackers.

  I suggest trying out Flock if you are big on social networking! It is based on FF platform and supports all add ons FF does.
