I am a blogger user because it is easy to manipulate. I would like to try on wordpress since many have suggested it. What is best to use? a. create an account at wordpress.com to create your blog or b. install it in your website and create your blog What are the advantages and disavantages of the above? |

I can't think of any disadvantages of have the blog on your own website. If you're blog is on wordpress.com it doesn't look nearly as professional as having your own domain. Plus they can remove your blog anytime they want. Quote:

Disadvantages are that you have to learn a little...but it is still easy to use. Advantages Your building and funneling traffic to your own site not someone elses...Using the free blogs, squidoo, hubpages, etc to funnel traffic to your site. You can utilize those sites to make your own self-made authority site. So your increasing the value of the site. Your site is an asset and it can become more valuable in time. Any site with descent traffic has value. Especially if you ever were to resell it. |

I'd say 'b' is the correct answer. A very simple reason: what do you do after a year if your blog gets deleted on blogger.com for some suspicious reason? Hope it helps, |

Wordpress.com doesn't allow affiliate promotions - so you can forget about that option or chance loosing your blog. Self-Hosted WordPress is just one of the many options you have and I'm obviously biased and think it is the Best Option. here are few benefits: 1. Complete control over functionality through plugins 2. Complete control over appearance through theme 3. Content you can't loose because someone didn't like it or reported as spam. As long as you do regular backups. 4. Any promotions you like are available - you can even push porn and gambling if you choose so and unless your host forbids it - it is an option. Just an extreme example to push my point. 5. Consistency - you control many things and can provide consistent experience to your readers. there are quite a few more but I think above mentioned should be plenty :-) |

Do both. Use the blog hosted at wordpress.com to post snippets of your posts with links back to the full articles on your website. Don't forget to place a script to build a list. TomG. |
