Best and cheapest domain registar for ENGLAND

This keeps getting asked but it is always the same answers, always American based, I am from England, therefore if I pay in dollars on a credit card for a single domain name which is all I can afford right now I end up paying up to 25% for overseas charges.

I don't want to do that so need a registrar with namecheaps excellence but based in ENGLAND so I dont get stuck for extra since I will be paying in pounds sterling and not dollars, does anyone know of such a company?

Paypal is also not an option since they refuse to get my bank details correct and put the confirmation funds in the right account.

Can check Namecheap. they accept many currencies, so i do not see problem they accepting your local currency as well.

      Thanks

How and where do I change the currency?

Noting that is want to change the actual currency charged and not the price displayed into pounds

Thanks Peter, I will definitely look at that site and see what the deal is

My issue is mostly that most registrars simply change the displayed price into pounds but they don't actually accept other currencies, they are simply changed to dollars for some unknown reason which makes me very sad when we look at bank statements and find we are charged for overseas transactions, most people at this time have extremely limited funds as it is and just cannot afford an extra 25% on top regardless of if it is only £2-3

When you are charged for overseas transactions which invariably happen for dollars you end up paying an extra £2.50 for that here in the UK...from your bank.

If your domain costs £10 purely as an example (price changed to sterling) an extra £2.50 on top which is not ever stated will push you into the red, if a bill is coming from your account at the same time you end up paying upto £40 for defaulting.

All I want is a good domain registrar that actually allows all transactions to be changed from dollar to sterling, and not simply change the way it is displayed

I checked out LCN, I am not interested in paying £10.40 for a new registration, thanks anyway Peter

No idea what you are talking about mate, you need to change your bank. I use godaddy, name and others and pay with a UK credit card and debit card occasionally and never get charged £2.50 or anything at all. For a .com I pay the rate on the site, and the conversion rate in my bank account reflects that changed to sterling.

Oh and we live in the UK, so the bank could be in Scotland, Wales, N Ireland as well as England...

They simply change the way the price is displayed and you still end up paying the overseas transaction and they are bloody horrible to get away from to another domain host to boot, godaddy is a firm no-no lol

    Thanks anyways

      Hi Sparhawke

I always register a .co.uk domain in the UK. 123-reg | Domain names | Domain name registration charge £2.99 per year and I've found their service to be fine.

You'll be hard pressed to find a UK registrar that charges under around £9 -£10 for a .com, so even with the extra charge, Namecheap (or similar) may still be your best bet.

The other alternative would be to get a pre-paid credit card in a US dollar currency and use that to purchase from a US registrar. As far as I know, you should avoid the currency exchange levy.

I finally decided to go default with namecheap and the coupon for march, it should actually work out cheaper even with the bank fee than it would by getting one from England direct.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions and comments :
