The internet billionaire rich list announced today

Aim you sights a little higher than $50 a day. Here's why....

Here's what the big boys are worth:

The internet has created some of the world's youngest billionaires, possibly in the shortest possible time scale, ever.

The richest are Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the pair who set up Google in the late 1990s. They went from PhD students to (paper) billionaires in about five years.

The youngest is 25-year-old Mark Zuckerberg, founder of social networking site Facebook, who has returned to the billionaire list in 2010 after dropping out in 2009 amid the economic downturn.

Here's the link to the article on the BBC website:

Yep I noticed that too. Google's current hold on the SE market would probably stifle new SEs from getting popular, however there are always new opportunities online and the anti-competition organisations (especially in the US and EU) definitely seem to have it in for Microsoft et al.

It doesn't do nothing for me, it is pointless saying I will make a billion because it is a dream figure. Saying that you want to earn $100 a day is much more motivating because you can get it. Saying you want to earn a billion, it is easy to say but it is basically un achievable.

Yep, and the people who created Google, Facebook, etc never imagined they'd become billionaires. The list of failures is a lot longer than the list of success stories. How many people had great big plans of developing the most amazing product the world has ever seen only to end up falling flat.

People are a product of their mindset. If you think you're worth a billion, you'll fight to get there and find a way. Everybody has a comfort level where they settle though, thinking this is all life is ever going to deliver. When you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to get it done. We have a name for those who quit before reaching their goals, we call them quitters. They quit on everything in life.

I'm glad he's doing okay now! He would have had to tighten his belt a little in 2009. Do a bit of tough budgeting.

I think it is futile to try to have a goal of becoming a billionaire.

According to what these billionaires say in their biographies, becoming a self-made billionaire is a matter of hard work and luck.

That Facebook guy started his facebook just to connect his fellow students. Sergei Brin and Larry Page did not choose their PhD thesis in the hope they will come billionaires.

Success was all down to luck. Preparation meeting opportunity.

Even top venture capitalists with their genius only expect 1 in 10 of their investments to become big successes.

    Luck plays a big part.

It is definitely possible to reach billionaire status. But first, I'll focus on getting my first 1mil gross revenue.

I noticed all those folks who became billionaires have one thing in common.

Not a single person on that list has ever posted a one-liner here on the forum.

      Coincidence?

      I think not...

Dum...dee...dum...dum...dum...wastin' some more time on WF...

    What's this?

    Wow!

    Cool list!

Wonder if I'm the only one who noticed that Jack Ma's face seems too tiny for his head?

And man, I'd like to be the lucky dude "who introduced Google's co founders to each other". Sweet Finder's Fee!

You know, thinking about these extremely wealthy Internet people, it seems like there WAS a significant amount of luck in many cases...

    That doesn't seem fair...

    Hey!

    Wait a secont!

    WTF?!

The creators of Google did not create Google to make a billion dollars.

They created Google because they had a great idea they wanted to execute. The idea is always first.

Look for an idea that will change the world.

    Money will follow.

I think it is great that people are making great money via the internet, however it does not motivate me at all t be honest.

It does tend to make some more ambitious but I motivate myself, because I am one of those weird people who loves what I do, and set my own goals and plans to grow my business.
