How to use an existing mailing list?

I am looking to get into the mailing list marketing field using some existing lists I have. Through various websites I have ran which require use registration and prompt for list opt-in, I have amassed around 250,000 opt-in users to a specific niche field.

I'm looking to now market to them, in a professional and legit way, but am not aware of the best method.

I've read about sites like Aweber which are used, but it doesn't seem to handle mass importing of existing lists, as well as I hear odd stories of people being banned for trying to import their list.

Could you please let me know the best and legitimate way to take an existing email list (email address + name) and use a respectable list managing company who does not share or do anything with your email lists?

Thanks in advance!

Or how about this, has anybody imported 250k emails into Aweber without any issue, or is there something specific I should know to make sure Aweber doesn't do anything wrong? The list I have is full opt-in, but I've heard horror stories at doing this with Aweber.

I would call aweber and speak to someone in person and tell them what you are trying to do. They will be able to advise you.
