Weird WordPress Problem and its Solution

Today's project is to maximize the promotional opportunities in two of my blogs.

I am using the set-up of a well known marketer's blog for my inspiration, but I am accomplishing it without using that Theme...

The site has one wide sidebar to the right...

In my blog, I wanted a wide graphic ad with link first (image is 300w x 100h), followed by my Aweber web form. I put the image with its link into a basic Text Widget.

Simple, yes?

Well, maybe not so simple... Late last night I ran into an interesting problem...

The LINK was BLEEDING down into the text for my Aweber form and then down into the widget headers all the way down the sidebar... making ALL of that TEXT a hyperlink going to the ad's destination!

Can you say *WEIRD!* ?

Needless to say I was extremely unhappy... I made the Text Widget inactive and went to bed.

This AM I awoke, not particularly refreshed but EXTREMELY determined to MAKE THIS WORK!!!! (My ex once described me as *relentless*)

I tried a number of HTML fixes but none worked...

So... on to Google. (I may have a Love /Hate relationship with the Big G but I don't let it prevent me from availing myself of its advantages!)

The gloves were off by this time, so I searched Longtail (LOL) - WordPress plugin for linked images

Google provided this result -

WordPress Image Link Plugin | BlogWell

I looked on the WP site;

WordPress › BlogWell's Simple Image Link Widget WordPress Plugins

DLed and installed and Voila / Walla !

The problem is solved!

At this point, it looks as though this is going to be a lifesaver!

So... if you suffer from bleeding links, I use and recommend (only slightly tongue in cheek here) the Simple Image Link Plugin.

Which I guess only goes to show that sometimes, when you don't think you need a plugin, you really do!

Exactly! Sometimes the hardest most time consuming part is just figuring out how to describe the problem! LOL

I usually find that problem is caused if you miss a final " or > when you are typing the link. A real pain to find as you always think you typed it correctly so have blindness about finding the typo.

          LOLOL You may be right!

As far as I could tell, I had the code (several different versions of it) correct... but who knows!

In any event, I need the problem solved ASAP and this did the trick!
