Quick Question (& confusion) about Backlinks

I was just reading an report on Article marketing and it talks about back-links:

Another method to build back-links is to resubmit your published article to other article directories, with the back-link changed to point to your original article. Even on its own, this could be great, especially if you want to get even higher search engine rankings.

Can you decipher the meaning of the above paragraph and why its relevant? I can't seem to follow the meaning of it....

Thanks in advance!

Terri

    Hi Terri,

I haven't got a clue what that means either but I am curious if anyone else knows.

I believe because article directories have high ranking with search engine and if your link appears in it, then your website would be assumed by the search engine to be important.

        Terri,

I believe that the objective is to get the original copy of the article to rank higher in the search engines by sacrificing the other articles. Remember Google tries to not rank multiple copies of the same content. It would do them no good to have the first page of their SERPS filled with the same content.

jimn is right...the technique is to backlink your primary article by submitted spun copies or other articles to diffeerent article directories. That way, you main article ranks higher. e.g. let's say your EZA is on page 1 pos 3 of google. The way to get it to move to pos 1 would be to take the direct link to that article and use it in your signature of your other articles. Hope this is clear. pm if you have questions.

It just means that you write an article once, submit it to a site like ezinearticles.com, then submit the article again to other sites, but at the bottom where you have a link to your site normally, instead you place a link back to the article at ezinearticles.com. That way you're building backlinks to the article at ezinearticles.com to help it move up in the Google rankings. Make sense now?

Better is to take one of your article in your blog, modify it with others similar words and sentences and then submit it to articles directories with a link to your blog.
