What is your biggest problem

This is an example of how to get people to open your emails

Notice the headline no solicitation. It is directly aimed at You or the recipient rather. this works for me as well, as -Free internet marketing training. They know if they open it they are going to receive something.

If you want people to actually read the email or newsletter you have taken the time to write, use something that is truthful but directly aimed at them

I am so sick of seeing cookie cutter emails from everyone and their dog I delete so many of them it is not funny. I don't use an auto responder for my customers I email them directly after purchase, and I get repeat customers so it works for me, but I do use one for my small list and at first I would put in the headline x newsletter now I put things like How can I help YOU

What is your biggest problem
What are You struggling with
What is your desire
what do YOU want to accomplish

things like that and it has increased CTR and Sales more importantly. I suck at writing sales copy that is a fact and I am not a very good writer to begin with but this works for me so it can definitely work for you.

I get asked and see a lot of people asking how do I get them to open how do I improve my CTR and this is one way you can I hope someone finds it useful and helpful.

Cheers
-WD

P.S. does it really work? Your reading this aren't you

Yes, it does work as far as I am concerned. Such a headline draws me in much more than a generic or non personal one.

I too have used this method and it works. HOWEVER, I also have to say that just as with everything else, one must not rely entirely on this method. It might work a few times but after that, you should change your strategy.

    Hi Jenny,

The strategy is to put your prospect at the center not to use the exact same headline I just used

    Hi Laura,

No this is not for spam it is in reference to those sending to their lists but have a less than great CTR spam is intolerable so if your on a list I would assume you chose to be there

Rather then using cookie cutter emails like everyone else make the header related to the offer or email but giving them a reason to open you are in a small percentage of folks who do open a lot just do not for whatever reason

    Cheers

My best open rates come from ... Hello{first_Name}, Troy Here .

Or something to that end . Branding yourself in a positive manner will get more opens than anything else .

My members know "Troy Here " is providing something of quality or I wouldn't be bothering them .

    Hi WD

I got the same mail today, and I admit that I did open it - so in that respect it worked. However the mails content didn't match the title, it was basically a promotion for a course in writing headlines that people will open. It really didn't have any content that dealt with an Internet Marketers "biggest problem".

This didn't leave me with a favorable impression, in a way I'd felt like I'd been tricked. As a result I never clicked on the link for the products squeeze page.

I think the title is excellent as it did the job and made me open the mail. But if you're going to use a tactic like this I think it's important to have the content match the title. Otherwise the tactic will backfire - I now will be a lot more reluctant to open this marketers mail and in my next round of "subscription housecleaning" his unsubscribe button may very well get used, all as a result of doing this.

Why marketers can't realize everything in a campaign needs to relate to each other is beyond me .

Classic example here . Could have easily made a sell or what ever the intent of the email was . Reader was interested in headline . Just not the unrelated product .

    Hi Troy,

Not too bad thanks lot on the go at present.

    @Bill,

    Hi Bill,

Hmmm this is a problem that is why I say it is important to be relevant. I did not realize there was a course teaching email headlines I do know there are a lot of ebooks etc that go over things with your list building efforts headlines being one of them but What is your biggest problem I usually use with -In getting yourself going in your business what do you struggle with etc.. I learned that from Gabor Olah he did it to me and I opened I tried it and it worked for me so I put it in the arsenal
Maybe there should be a course on writing content oriented headlines with the recipient at focus. Just goes to show ya anyone can screw the good things up

I will stress again it is imperative to put your recipient in a position where they want to open and when they do the content is what they can use and benefit from, that is on topic to the headlines used. I tried various headlines and these are the ones I find that work IF you have the right content like
    Headline: Free internet marketing training,

Content: Here is a website that will not only allow you x to do and have xx but will also show you thus included in your membership which by the way is completely free however there is a OTO should you choose to purchase that I will gain a commission

    or something like that
