Creative Marketing, Offline Traffic --> Online, Look at this Site

So, a few days ago I was chilling at my old college friends neighborhood in Bushwick, Brooklyn which is now the hipster capital of the world, but, point being there is a whole lot of creativity their,
There is this thing called Bushwick Yearbook (unfortunately it's in flash and runs slow, be patient its cool)
The owner setup show outside various spots in Bushwick and took yearbook style pictures of everyone. He then posted these yearbook pictures online for them to see.
So, he first offered value --> Free Picture
Then he posted it online, obviously people want to see how it came out and proceed to go to the website.
Now, that was all creative, he build a social network with NING around the idea but it looks like it has died down a bit, however, he has all the names and emails of everyone that took a picture and has a huge list.
He now has to dedicate time to finding a demographically specific product to sell them and he could be in the gold.
