How to Install A WordPress Theme
Your site's theme basically is how it looks and performs. There are about a billion and a half different places on the net to get free themes. Here are a couple of my favorites:
- Download free WordPress themes - Free WP Themes
- FREE WORDPRESS THEMES | WP THEMES | Kates Theme Viewer
- Theme Splice | Free Wordpress Themes
You can also make your own themes with inexpensive software like Artisteer. That's the software I use and it's really user-friendly and has tons of options, too.
So, go to the tab that says Appearance and click on it to show the appearance menu. The WordPress Default theme is already installed. Once you've found a theme you think you like, download it to your computer, somewhere you'll remember (I like to put mine on my desktop so I know exactly where to find them all). The theme will come already zipped up...don't unzip it!
Click on Add New Themes in the menu under Appearance. You can search for a theme here also, but since you've found one already, click Upload at the top of the screen. Now click Browse to find the theme you downloaded on your computer, and then click Install Now.
Once the theme has been installed, you'll see a screen telling you so. But you're not quite done yet. On that same screen, see where it says "Activate"? Click on that to make your theme go live on your blog.
If you want to see how your theme looks, look in the upper left-hand corner of your admin panel. See where it says your blog name, and right after that it says "visit site"? Click on visit site and you'll see exactly how that new theme looks!
Congrats! You just installed your WordPress theme!
