how do you make friends with the important people in IM?

hi guys, have anyone made friends with the gurus or any other notable figures in internet marketing. I realsie that the major problem with this is that the gurus or virtually anyone dont reply to their mails, they have enough friends already and so on and so forth. Even if you offer them help ( the conventional advice for making friends with them) , they are not going to take it? Anyone got advice on what to do to become friends with gurus such that they will be willing to review your product and promote it?

Yes there are some gurus don;t give quick replies, some of them never, but we can understand that they may be busy..but there are some great people too always love to take care of others by giving quick replies to the queries..it all depends on their attitude..just we can observe these things with few emails..then leave that person after few days if you won't get proper response...

Any business, whether online or offline depends on the kind of contacts you have. The more, the better.

To be honest, it's not that difficult to get into the inner circle and get to know the gurus. They are human being after all and they are always looking for building partnerships.

The best way to get in touch with big names is to become an affiliate of their product, make some sales, and then get in touch with them on how you can promote their products better. It's way better to get in touch with them as their affiliate rather than some random XYZ.

Sell lots of their stuff and, if you can, get on their launch leaderboards. Go out to live events, talk with them, and buy them drinks (optional). Buy their stuff and pay for personal 1-on-1 coaching. Join their masterminds if possible.

Sell their stuff and get on a leaderboard.

then go to an event where they will be. For example they were all just at Underground 6 in D.C this weekend.

Introduce yourself as an affiliate and hopefully they have seen you on Google alerts or facebook etc...

Interact with them on Twitter or FBook.

  • I would definitely say live events. You can make contacts online, but the live events will cement a relationship.

One hint. Don't go straight to the top tier of gurus. Look for gurus who are a level or two above where you are at. They are more likely to look favourably at helping you to grow your business. And, as they rise themselves, you'll find additional opportunities opening up for you through their contacts.

Posts #3, #4 and #5 are spot on.

If you start making some serious sales as an affiliate of their products, they will most likely contact you.

Yes, James is right regarding becoming an affiliate and actually going to events to meet face to face!

The other thing to do, and one I focus on is making your own waves within the IM industry. Focus on working hard yourself, put out great products and friendships and networking becomes easier!

Make you own waves and things will happen! ; )

    #1 Go to live events

#2 Friend them on FB or Twitter and occasionally offer a helpful tip

#3 Find out who is a rising star that has been trained by the guru and get to know them

#4 Be a connector - if you run across someone that your guru would appreciate, connect the two of them together.

#5 Look for ways you can give without wanting to receive anything in return. How can you help them grow their business? Who can you connect them with that would be of benifit to them? Etc...

Do the above... then... build a decent sized list. You'll get attention from them that way.

    Easy, make them money.

If you can't do that yet, or preferably in addition to that, meet them face to face and introduce yourself. Show them you are interested in what they have to say and respect their opinions - translation, listen MUCH more than you speak when you engage them.

I agree that the best way to meet the most people is at live events. I always look forward to going to one of these.
