can you survive in internet marketing without JV partners?

here comes the hypothetical question. A person sets up a website selling a weight loss product. He knows no one who can help him promote his product and all mails to jv partners have failed with no reply.

Is it possible for him to survive on his own? Or what can he then do?

Well, to be honest, if you're giving value in your product, then there is absolutely no way anyone can turn you down. But for that, they first have to take a look at your product.

If you are really serious about getting a JV partnership successfully done, then you should first create a relationship with your target partner. And do everything you can to get in touch with them. Don't just email them, no one takes it seriously these days. Instead, see if you can fax them, call them on their phone, or even send them a snail mail using FedEx. It's all about your approach.

The second way to deal with this situation is to start without a JV partner, where the growth will be slow. And then recruit affiliates for your product and let it get popular. This is when you can approach potential JV partners with the facts and figures, and show them your conversions.

I wonder what is the difference between a joint venture and getting afiliates to sell your product?

A vendor affiliate relationship is basically the same thing right, both are making money out of the relationship so it is a joint venture in soem regards?

Just wanted to clarify the difference so i dont make mistakes myself

Yes it's possible to survive...if you have a solid list of your own. If I were you, I'd work on my approach. You must be doing something wrong if everyone's ignoring you.

For an affiliate, there usually isn't much of a relationship between them and the product owner. For example, if you're an affiliate on Clickbank, you'll find a product that looks good and you'll start promoting it. You might get some help from the product owner in the form of affiliate tools and keywords, but that's it. There is less communication between a vendor and an affiliate than between a vendor and a JV partner.

You know all those emails you keep getting about the latest launches? The people who are sending these emails are JV partners. These people have committed the time and valuable mailing slots to promoting these products. The product owners are in constant contact with these guys. It is expected that the product owner will reciprocate when a JV partner comes through for them.

Basically, JV partners are more important than affiliates because they're more committed to their promotions. They're more committed because they're not just promoting any old product to make a buck; they're creating long-term business relationships with the product owners. This is one of the reasons why gurus like promoting the stuff of other gurus and not random Clickbank products.

Sure. All you need is to make people aware of your product. I suggest you set aside a budget for advertising and start PPC on Yahoo since its cheaper than Google. If you can get it to break-even you are on your way.

Then once you've built a list you can start approaching other people in the fitness industry if they want to do a product together and swap lists for 50% cut. That's what usually works.
